Does any one know of any recovery movies?

When I watch movies like "Bad Lieutenant" I find myself amazed that the drugging life in the kill zone was that bad. At the time of my using I thought I was having fun with being whacked out crazy and all the stupid stuff was normal. Then I see drugging movies sober I start to think to myself, that crap is not so normal after all. For some those movies have no recovery value, to me there are like a new perspective.

I watched a movie called Citizen Jane a couple years ago....it gives an interesting spin on addiction recovery. It also deals a lot with abortion issues. One of those food for thought movies...

while requiem for a dream is a great movie, every heroin addict knows your eyes contract and not dialate when shooting dope
Hatful of Rain
and don't forget Stuart Saves his Family (the cinematic equivalent of Rule #62)
Just a bit of trivia. . .
When a Man Loves a Woman was written by Al "Stuart Smalley" Franken.

Recovery in the movies.
What about,'Rio Bravo' starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, the alcoholic gunslinger who recovers to aid JW to protect the jail housing the son of a local cattle baron incarcerated for alleged murder, also starring Ricky Nelson with whom Martin duets, singing,'My riflle, my pony and me.'
I'm not sure if Martin recovered in real life as he was a member of the imfamous,'Rat Pack' along with Sinatra et al.

The House of Sand and Fog - recovery is a side plot.
A side note - I read the book recently because of the recovery side plot, and, well, it was very different from the movie. That's all I'm saying on that. Still a good book, but wow. Just wow.

Depends on your age, but there is a great MTV film called "wasted" that came out around 2000 or 2001. It focuses on High school age folks, but really focuses on the true trials of recovery, but also relapse unfortunately. This one is powerful because it is based on a true story. Hope this helps.

DOWN TO THE BONE - A drug-addled mother of two, Irene (Vera Farmiga), decides to check herself into a rehab center in upstate New York, where she meets and falls in love with a fellow addict (Hugh Dillon) who's working hard to mend his ways. But when one of them relapses into addiction, can their soulful commitment to each other prevail over the insidious lure of narcotics? Debra Granik won the Director's Award and Farmiga won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance.
