It's ok to feel that way - it's natural...but we don't have to act on that feeling!

Think it through, Joe.
It really ain't fun and then comes all those self-esteem torpedoes.
I am bored and frustrated tonight.....went grocery shopping and returned to my regular hangout....here at SR
whatever I feel like I need it can't be bought..........

Do you remember your last bad time? The time so bad you finally cleaned up? Here's a very good suggestion CarolD has: Write it down and keep it in your wallet. Every time you a case of the "buts" pull it out and read it.
From my experience with alcohol, it's a progressive disease. Your body does NOT reset.
You're in my thoughts, as always, dear one.
Love,
Lenina

Well sorry to say ..there is nothing clean and powerful enough to get the job done anymore..that is how it is for me....garbage dump for dope I am!! Last time I took some pills...oh my god...daladid....I sent myself into a real bad space and just couldn't GET high enough..pathetic...I OD before I get high enough ...
The relief that you seek is right here...the answer is staying clean......
The way of COURAGE is to stay clean..too easy to pick up...
This is a battle man...we are fighting for our lives...are you going to drop your gun and leave your troops in the battle??? I don't think you would and recovery is the same...
I need you here Joe...do something for SOMEONE ELSE ...help saomeone...ANYONE..it works...but you gotta take some action...
love norty

Sorry I'm late on this, but I hope you're asleep, will wake up feeling a bit better and will go to your meeting and speak up.
Do you remember how you felt after your last episode? If not, maybe go re-read your thread and see how utterly miserable you were.
When your addict voice tries to tell you that you won't go that far again or you know better now....bullshyt. As my ex used to tell me, we are "professional addicts". We don't just dabble around with dope, we do a lot of it, hard and fast. Even if we start out slow, it will take no time at all until we get back up to speed.
I know that's how I was when I was using, and I have no doubt I would be that way again, if I were to pick up, and won't even take the risk.
Another thing that helps me is when I think of using, I picture some images from the last time I used (when I relapsed) that I'm not very proud, in my head. It helps me to think using = bad stuff.
Hugs and prayers!
Amy

Hey there Emmer! Don't do it!!
I started thinking about allergies to help me. If I were deathly allergic to peanuts or strawberries, I would have to avoid them at all costs. Period. Even if they were my favorite things on earth. Addicts are allergic to drugs. We can't have them. They make us die.
A friend recently said "I'm allergic to drugs. I break out in felonies and misdemeanors." It's funny...and then it's not.
Remember, the addict voice is just a voice; you are the one who makes the actions.
One is too many and a thousand is never enough.
You have a sponsor right? Call him!!

Honey, please stay strong. I know what you're going through....here lately, same here.
Play that tape all the way through to the end......and you'll find that using will lose it's appeal real quick!
You have been such an inspiration to me. I'm proud of you...be proud of yourself and don't throw it away!
...here's a hug and kiss

Joe:
As you know I recently took my DOC following surgery. Please trust me, there is nothing good about it. Yes, I followed doctor's orders and had a strong plan, but the pills still took up way too much room in my head. And I lived through a day of w/d all over again. Remember that pain, Joe...please.
