Kensie, Congratulations on a year. Hope there are many more! (sober-versaries, not year ones.)

Good Morning Weekenders

It's Good Friday / a Bank Holiday here in the UK.

As a child that would mean no shops were open and I had to go to church on the afternoon. Neither happens now and as a result, the day no longer has that "Sunday" feel about it. However, one tradition that I've kept up is that it's definitely one of the days where I eat fish so I'll be having fish and chips at lunch time!

I hope everyone has a peaceful Friday

The main way Easter is different to a regular Sunday for me is we have roast lamb. So that'll be nice. I might go to Mass but it'll probably be really long.

My aunt invited me to an Easter brunch at their house, so that’ll be nice.

Looking forward to another sober weekend

I'm too broke to buy Easter eggs but they'll be on sale next week so I might treat myself then.

Congratulations on a year, kensie!

Sorry to hear that, Manta. Sounds really rough. At least you can have fancy coffee.

Not much planned this weekend - we are not religious, so Easter is pretty much just another day. When the kids were still around we practiced the consumer side of it with Easter baskets and dying of eggs, but no church. My youngest, who lives in New Jersey, has started going to church -- so I'll wish her a happy Easter. The plan this weekend for me is hiking, lunch with friends, some cleaning, more trip planning. Man friend wants to do a little shopping. That's it! Love my sober weekends.

Sending positive vibes your way MantaLady!

Happy Good Friday everyone!

Easter is a fitting time to quit, whatever your religion. Getting free of having to booze everyday is a kind of resurrection.

MantaLady, I'm sorry that the surgery couldn't be done. You must be so anxious to get out of the hospital and get home. Hugs to you and keep us posted when you can.

I quit on a GoodFriday - simply because nothing was open so I was given a head start.

If my mum were alive she would have been 100 years old on Good Friday.

She used to cook that weird, but tasty cod (?) in simmering milk. It was orange on one side. I liked it.

I quit smoking yesterday, Dee. Good Friday.

Day 2 today.
