Hi to all the weekenders!
Thanks Mags I am in for a sober weekend!
Sao thanks for the EWF song it lightened my mood.
least glad you got a negative biopsy.
Alpine thinking of you hope you go home today or soon.
I will be playing some tennis this weekend, watching some tennis and doing chores. Maybe I will clean out my clothes closet. Also might do some cooking and baking.
Going to see the Psychedelic Furs and Squeeze in a few weeks. Can't wait! I saw the Furs when I was in college in the 80s. Had a huge crush on the lead singer, Richard Butler.

Hi everyone--in for another sober weekend.
I love EW&F's "September" and I love September, my second favorite month behind May.
CBS--I saw Squeeze 25 years ago, loved them. I need to listen to their stuff--haven't in years. Like the Furs, too.

Hey CBS62 - I LOVE Squeeze! I was lucky enough to see them at a movie theater back in the day. First and only time that theater had a concert. I think the owner thought everyone was going to sit quietly and listen - that didn't happen - it turned into a dance party!
Got a decent night's sleep last night. Woke up with a headache tho, and two cups of coffee have almost gotten rid of it.
Home health nurse comes today to change the dressing. Doctor at the wound clinic said last time I saw him - that next visit on Sept 11th will be my last visit as the wound will be fully healed by then.

Sorry to read about your friends Robbie, it's a reminder that this addiction we have is a killer. I'm glad it didn't take you.
Good to 'see' you Leigh, I hope the Hurricane didn't cause any damage (that is if you live in Florida - I have in in my mind that is where you live but I could be mistaken)
Some great music, I have seen the Furs too, a very long time ago at a place that back then was called North East London Polytechnic. The Butler brothers are still making music I think, or were a few years back.
Some years ago now, 2015 thereabouts, my youngest daughter had a market stall in a place called Spitalfields - not too far from me - she and a friend held a fashion show there (unauthorised by council I discovered later) and wanted something upbeat that would go with some Egyptian themed clothes they were flogging. The place it self was built during the Tutankhamen craze in the 1920s so had an Egyptian look. I suggested Communion With the Sun by Todd Rundgren (Utopia but basically Todd) I don't think they were expecting me to come up with any useful contribution but they said it was the ideal opener for what they had in mind - the first and last time she has ever followed any of my suggestions.
I better play it now I guess. It's a slightly longer track than I remembered.
The live versions are too long really (and not great videos tbh)

As we're posting songs, especially with a September / end of summer vibe, I thought I'd post this excellent song we all probably know. The song is basically about getting old and looking back on youth while seemingly singing about a lost love. Don Henley has stated that the song is about aging and questioning the past which is something I've been doing a lot of in recent weeks. The lyrics also suggest someone looking back as summer has passed and the autumn (fall) chill is in the air which is certainly true of the weather as we enter the last 4 months of the year.
I understand Robbie, My friends who OD and die in their 30s or drink themselves to death at 40-50s years old, make no sense at all.
IMO addiction had its hooks deeper in them than me IDK.
I will celebrate my recovery with my tender memories (spirits perhaps) of my beloved family and friends who were murdered by addiction.
I Just Love Todd. This song of his shows and sounds how I'm feeling because of sobriety.
and a 1, and a 2, and a 3...HIT IT Todd
Turn the dial to 10!

@saoutchik They were called a Doozy 😃 The word became popular parlance in US culture as something way cool.
It's a doozy
This is the 1935 Duesenberg Torpedo

Morning Weekenders (and thank you for the new thread, Mags ).
Up and about at 6am on a Saturday and feeling great, all thanks to sobriety.
Robbie, it is sad to hear about your friends. I turned 50 this year and am grateful that I managed to come to the decision to stop the madness in time. The Boys of Summer bring back great memories, I was 12 or 13 years old when the song came out. It reminds me of a beautiful girl who I had the most severe unreciprocated crush on at the time.
On Sunday we meet up with an old friend of mine since we were both 7 years old. He has been living in Switzerland for many years so looking forward to seeing him again.
Now its time for my gloves and into the garden. Have a great weekend everyone.
