Happy Weekenders to all. I got no sleep again last night due to the severe itching that bothered me all night. Finally fell asleep around 9 am and slept til 4, missing an appt with the home health nurse to change the dressing. I was so sound asleep I didn't hear the phone ringing.

I had ordered something that was supposed to soothe scalp itch. I tried it as soon as I got it... and it made it worse! . I contacted amazon and said I wanted to return it. Got instructions on how to do that. Going to take it to Whole Foods, where they will pkg it and ship it for no charge.

I was finally able to sleep. Not too bothered by it until this evening, when it started back up. It's so bad tonight I'm sure I won't be able to get to sleep. I am so tired of this disrupting my life.

I am not calling shotgun, someone else can have it this week.

As you rightly said, I was initially wondering what to do with all this extra time in the evening. But a plan helped me get a great role and also pursue fitness.
If there was no plan, AV would have convinced me to start again.
Anyways, ran a 3.2K in 21 minutes, faster than my usual pace. Good night from Seattle.
Just saw your post. Take care, Least. For my scalp itch / dandruff I use MG 217 coal tar shampoo and feel much better.

Welcome Joeb54, stick close to SR and post, you can do this.

Had the cleaners at dads house, took them all day but they did a great job. Then we signed with a realtor in the evening. House goes on the market on Tuesday. With a little luck, it will be sold the following Monday. The realtor said that Winnipeg has the fastest housing market in Canada right now. Fingers crossed.

I'll be happy to close this chapter and move onto the next.

Speaking of what's next, the luthier said he'll be starting on my Ukulele this weekend!

Thanks Mags for the great opening post (I love the images!) . I'm IN for a sober weekend.

Congratulations on shotgun calmself!

Like yourself I also use coal tar shampoo if I have an itchy scalp. It's not very often I have to use it but I always have some in the house just in case (it's sold in the UK under the brand name Polytar). The smell of it reminds me of my childhood. My gran used to wash her hair / scalp with it once a week and the smell of it would linger in the air in her house. It also reminds me a little of the smell that used to linger in the air outside in the 1970s when my town was undergoing rapid expansion and there were a lot of new roads being built everywhere - it has a similar smell to freshly laid tarmac! I think the latter may be better known as asphalt in the US.

Even if it is good for the scalp, coal tar shampoo does sound horrendous though: wikipedia describes coal tar as "Coal tar is a thick dark liquid which is a by-product of the production of coke and coal gas from coal. It is a type of creosote".

I'm in for another sober weekend!

Welcome, Joeb54. Stick with us, we can help your get through your first sober weekend!

I've got a busy busy weekend ahead. We are in the home stretch for getting both my daughter's house and my man friend's cabin ready to sell.

The cabin is already sold, they close on the 17th. There was 20 years' worth of stuff accumulated there in the house and the garage. It became sort of a storage area for him and for other members of his family. He lives in a small apartment, so he stored stuff there at the cabin. Anything he isn't throwing away or leaving for the buyers is going into a storage unit here. We have made several trips back and forth with trailers full of stuff. It's a 2.5 hour drive each way, so it's just grueling. There were also several repairs that needed to be done. I'll make one more trip up on Saturday with him to move more stuff back here.

My daughter's house is not on the market yet, but should be by next week. There were a whole lot of things to do there, like painting the whole interior and parts of the exterior, some drywall repair, light fixture replacement, yard clean-up, and lots and lots of cleaning. She's moving to a much smaller place (broke up with her boyfriend, neither one can afford the place alone). She had a massive sale and got rid of a lot, storing a lot at her father's place. I've been helping her with as much as I can. She's moving this weekend, then all there is left is a little more cleaning.

Then early Sunday, I'm leaving for a week to go visit my other daughter in NYC. Bad timing, as I won't be here to help my man friend with the last of the work at his cabin, and I can't help my daughter actually move. But this trip has been planned since before either of them decided to sell their places. And I think I've done enough! NYC is not exactly going to be a relaxing time, as my father who lives in FL is meeting us there, and I am the "cruise director" for the whole trip. I have done meticulous planning and made all of the necessary reservations, so it should all go well. I'm looking forward to the trip, but what I' m REALLY looking forward to is coming back and not having to dive back into helping anyone move. Everything should be done by then. I hope!

Oh, and work is insane, too. An early and unexpected retirement has us all scrambling and unsure of what is going to happen. We cannot catch a break.

Sobriety makes all of this possible without me losing my mind. I'm holding it all together while people around me nearly have nervous breakdowns. There's NO WAY I'd be able to do all this if alcohol were still on the table. So grateful every day when I wake up, knowing I have a difficult or busy day ahead, and I can face it with a clear head.

P. S. They both owe me lots of help when I eventually move out of my house. I am in NO HURRY and I'll probably move from there into assisted living when that time comes, so WAY in the future. I turned 60 last week, so fingers crossed I have many years of independence ahead of me.

I've got a day of doing things I mostly don't want to. It might do me well to get out of the house. I have to get my botox injections for my migraines today and run and bunch of errands. Walgreens called and wanted to know when I was going to pick up my scripts.
Dear God give me the strength to do what I have to do today. My doctor thinks I have long covid, which is really rough. Most of the time I don't feel well enough to do much of anything. I know it's not contagious but it sure doesn't feel well.
Here's to sobriety as we go into the weekend. Love and peace to all.
