AV getting stronger and louder
So the alcoholic voice is getting louder and stronger! The scary part is I am listening to it!
I know that I can't pick up a drink but damn the AV is really trying to convince me that it would be okay to have a drink or two!
I am scared of the AV and I needed to come here and say that I am scared of it!

I suspect the AV is getting louder because it know it's losing and that you're winning. It doesn't want to give up quite yet. You're doing great and you can get through this and it will get easier for you. Do whatever you can to distract yourself and stay focused on your goal. You've got this.
Hi Quit
Many of us have the voice return, especially in the early days.
Thats not in itself a danger sign - alcoholics think about drinking- but not having any defence against the AV definitely is.
Nows the time to look at what you are doing to stay sober...what can you add?
what can you do to strengthen your recovery plan?

Definitely don't listen to it - has your AV ever steered you right?
No, mine either
Nothing is as powerful as you are - if you decide not to pour alcohol down your throat there's nothing your AV can do about it.

It may be getting louder but it isn't getting stronger. Keep shutting it down by changing the thought- not that you want a drink, but that you want to be SOBER. Do what Free suggests, and on top of all that, stay here and read and post and then go to bed. Then tomorrow you can count today as another sober day.
Your AV can’t pick up a bottle itself, only try to get you to do it.
You are the boss, and you got this—the louder it gets, the more you are actually winning.
Keep your sobriety going and Mr. AV loses power, shows up less frequently, and when he does you notice it less and less

First of all , You got this.
That Voice is the sound of a parasite , You starve It out , there is no need to ever feed a parasite , purposely nourishing it only weakens You. The good news about this parasite is what you have to do to starve It is literally nothing.Just ignore it .
Getting a little ‘zen’ with it helps , set the unpleasantness of the craving kind of off to the side , acknowledge that it exists but get used to the idea of its existence and then see it as a ‘thing’ and you can decide what to do about things , things or discrete objects are things we can ‘do stuff to’ , they aren’t ‘us’. I’m a hardcore AVRTer , identification and separation from the desire are concepts that really resonated with me , lots of great threads here on SR about those ideas , highly recommend them.
And secondly , you got this .
quit or else , else sounds pretty ******, I vote for the first part
Rootin for ya

Quitorelse, notice the common theme in all the responses. As the AV gets starved out, the louder it gets. This is exactly what is expected at this stage. And it will probably continue, although gradually weaker and weaker after it hits its strongest bellows.
But the AV is just a voice trying everything it can think of to get you to drink. The real threat is in how you deal with it. Listening to it is OK. You can't pretend it's not there, but I believe not behaving in ways to fulfill its demands is the better focus. Reach down and draw on your determination to get well. Draw on your strength, not your weakness.
Later strength will not even be an issue. It will be all be a head game where you must think calmly and make the rational choice. But for now you need to train your resistance muscle, but your getting near the end of this phase. Hang in there.

Say out -loud. I am not having an alcoholic drink today.
Fill a glass of water and drink it all - that's all.
Do that every day.
Go for a walk.
Your AV may get louder but it will never get stronger only weaker.
Rooting for you!

My AV is a child throwing a tantrum because I won't give it the candy.
It's louder BECAUSE it is powerless.
It can't get the candy itself, so it has to badger me into it.
If you give that kicking screaming child the candy, do you know what you're gonna get?
More tantrums.
Be strong.
It'll wear itself out.
That brat can't do squat.

The AV doesn't really want you to have "just one or two," it wants you to surrender control and make drinking the most important thing that you do. The lies about "just one or two" are only to get its foot in the door. Stay strong!

Not sure this comment will make you feel better or not, Quito, but I get cravings, albeit small ones, after three and a half years. I just tell myself I lost the battle against alcoholism, and if I had one, I’d have more (and more).
I’ve created a decent little life now which I’d lose (well I wouldn’t lose my life, but it’d be empty and s*** again) if I drank again. That’s what you need to be planning, or rather doing, now. I’ll be blunt here. The people who aren’t successful at quitting haven’t changed a single thing about themselves. They might have a s***job, no life, four walls and the TV every evening, and they think they can just quit the alcohol. A plan for quitting doesn’t mean AA or the like, but what are you planning to do next?
