I am not really keen on tinned or farmed Haggis Cityboy, I much prefer wild Haggis but of course they are now on the WWF's Most Endangered Species list and can no longer be eaten.

Sao, those wild haggis are too cute to eat
I personally have never eaten haggis, although I do like porridge (without the outer stuff)

I am thankful for:

Being sober and having a clear head

The wonderful support here on SR

Being able to appreciate the little things

The beauty of nature

A loving supportive partner

My wonderful family

Fresh air to breathe

A comfortable bed

Clean sheets

Electricity

A cold fridge

Fresh Veggies

Good quality food

Having a job

Being able to come to SR whenever I need support

All of you here ❤️

Given how careless I was in my youth, I'm just grateful I survived to old age.

Try distracting yourself, artwork, take a walk, make a phone call. Anything to get a different thought in your head. It's not worth it.

Its rough for a little while not drinking but the discomfort is worth it to be free, yeah?

calmself, I think you know you’ll be punishing yourself by drinking a few beers. You know it doesn’t stop there once you start.

I remember when I drank Mr. Mags says what is it you like about the drink. I said it tastes good. He said bull##it. I said it’s fruity and refreshing. He said bull##it again. Fruit juice is refreshing, water is refreshing. You drink it to get pi##ed and wasted. It was true. However I painted it up the end result, for me was to get blotto.

Thank you all. I distracted myself by going for a long walk in the rain with an umbrella and then had an early dinner.

Quick question if someone has felt the same, I seem to crave for sugar despite the good dinner I had. Is this common? Looking forward to a beautiful day 14 tomorrow. Good night from Seattle.

Calmself, yep I crave sugar too. I think it’s pretty common when you stop drinking. If the cravings get bad I’ll take sugar over alcohol, but I try to limit it. I feel like it’s an addiction in itself.
And well done on 13 days, tomorrow will be two weeks! Great work

Well done calmself. I had sugar cravings when I first stopped too. I used ice-cream as my go too for a while.

calmself, I also had sugar cravings when I first stopped drinking. It's normal and they do usually fade after a few weeks.

Sorry to hear about your news Aly xx

Happy Thanksgiving for those that celebrate it x

I am in for another sober weekend. Going to keep busy and finish off the big house tidy with the goal being by 5pm Sunday latest the place is spotless (including washing carpets in living room), clean bedsheets and no ironing left in the basket etc. Then going to run a bubble bath and have a pamper night. Can’t wait to get to Monday morning when I will have had a lovely sleep, have no housework to do and can add some more tools to my sober toolkit like swimming and exercise x
