Hi
What an amazing thread. Well done, Gabe. Sending you love.
I so identify with the feeling of surrender, with just letting it go, and facing the truth. And the gratitude for a safe container to share and be held.
And it's your commitment to the program that's making this precious gift possible.

So four days to go....
I can't believe it. I'm so excited about all the little things. Going food shopping and cooking my own food, seeing my family, going to new meetings and getting to know people.....being myself! Being free!
Nervous, excited, scared and about everything in-between.
Thank you all for sticking with this thread. It's been really great to check in and the encouragement has been amazing.
I'm looking forward to checking in and posting other people's threads now too.....I needed to focus on me but it's going to be time to help myself but helping others here And we all need it!! ❤️

Hey Gabe,
I'm glad you're feeling strong and ready to face the world.
You are such a giving person that I'm not surprised you'd think your turn is up now. It's not.
When I was somewhere around six months out of (my second) inpatient rehab, a wise person told me that alcohol detox is one thing, emotional detox follows. Around the same time, another wise person remarked that I was still recovering, and how important it is to take care of myself during that recovery period. Those two concepts were enormously helpful to me - I hope they are for you, too.
Where will you be going when you leave there?
I'm glad you're feeling strong and ready to face the world.

Recovery first....then build in the rest of life but recovery ALWAYS first.
It's been such an emotional process and the therapy has been intense but there is a lot now to process and come to terms with. A lot of learning and a completely different perspective.
I think emotional recovery is exactly right xx
Going to my parents for a few weeks, just until I'm ready to start rebuilding things....they are going to a friend's and family aftercare group tomorrow, to learn a bit about the rehab program and addiction in general Xxx
How are you? Feeling better? ❤️Xxx
