I've not been posting for a while but not really been managing. Just called a rehab place and getting admitted this week. Ruined too many things to ignore this any longer x

Prayers! Quitting hurts like hell. Physical and mental.

When I was actively addicted I remembers telling myself I would have just 1 snort.

Then I would say just one more. Then I would lose count by accident on purpose.

Then the bottle would be nearly half empty and I'd be wasted.

I would be trapped in my house, because I dare not drive.

Then the wife would be pissed at me.

I would binge eat and pass out.

Wake up with a raging hangover and craving booze.

Nightmare.

Quitting this long took suffering and time.

You are making a very powerful decision for your life. I truly admire your strength and determination to get well. You can do this. Rehab does not mean defeat. In fact, It means that you are taking the reigns and giving yourself a chance to make a permanent change in your life. You can sort out all the life details when the time is right. I believe in you, Gabe. I believe that you will get sober and you will be free from an active addiction. Sobriety is not linear for a lot of people. I struggled with my own active alcoholism for over 10 years. It was exhausting but I never surrendered or gave up trying. YOU ARE AMAZING, GABE! Keep on fighting the good fight and know in yourself that you will overcome this.

No need to be frightened - you're going to boot camp with a bunch of people who are in the same predicament you are.
In a setting that allows you to learn about yourself in a very intense way, should you choose to do that.
