Hello Least,

Only just discovered your thread.
Hope you feel better soon. Its an awful pain, back pain and sciatica is a pain in the a$$ too...

A few years ago i had a pinched disc in L5S1 and it was creating sciatica also.
There were mornings i could not get out of bed and others i couldnt put on my socks, literally.
I was prescribed IZALGI it is a strong pain killer here in france however it contains opium powder with 2.5mg of morphine... it helped alot but it is an opioid medication...

Tell the doc the truth dont be brave, you have unbearable pain, help ...

Take care !

Hi Least, I hope the respite continues ❤️. Anytime you have a respite period, I’m wondering if you could try the suggestions Fusion recommended about the guided meditations, and the one the other posted about icy hot? Maybe you’ve already tried, I don’t know. If you aren’t able to do these things when you are already in severe pain, if you have the energy to do them when you are in less pain, it could help lessen the next pain attack, even if just a little. My job requires work with folks with varying levels of back pain, I know yours is on the severe side, and I have also seen these suggestions work.

I hope your daughter or brother can be with you at the pain doctor appointment tomorrow. If you are in pain at the time, it could affect clear thinking when you discuss treatment options, so it would be good to have an advocate in there with you if possible

love you least! Stay strong!

Least I am sorry to read you are still fighting this.
I am glad you are strong enough in your sobriety that drinking is not an option.

Sending healing thoughts

Least, remember to breathe when the pain comes. Concentrate and Breathe in slowly hold your breath for 5 seconds exhale slowly and repeat. I did this when I was having my bone marrow biopsy. It didn’t lessen the pain but it gave me something to concentrate on.

Make sure they know that you are exhausted and in urgent need of respite from the pain.

I agree with you, Least - this is no time to play it down. He must be made aware of how long you've been suffering & how debilitating it's been.

You've done so much to help relieve your pain. Has your doctor considered surgery? I know this is a drastic measure and should be a last resort, but what else is left? Nowadays, surgery has come a long way, and can be done with lazers, etc. It is much more percise and, depending on the surgery, can be without long term recovery. Something to think about. Good luck.
