I'm in terrible pain from sciatica but no desire to drink

Please pray for me that the pain lessens as it's excruciating. But the absolute last thing I want is to drink. Drinking would just make everything worse and I'm not going to throw away my hard earned sobriety for any reason.

Asking for your prayers.

Ah Least, I feel for you - I have had serious bouts of sciatica in the past few years and it can be as painful and debilitating as most anything. Booze only would make things worse as you say. Have you ever heard of the McGill Big 3 or a book on back work called Foundation? It might to be feasible this moment but both were really helpful to me.

So sorry to hear that. I've not had sciatica, I don't think, but I've had back problems. Healing thoughts going out.

(((((least)))))

My friend had sciatica and I know she can attest to how very painful and debilitating it was.

I will pray that it passes quickly for you.

very gentle

It must be rotten to have to endure that. Fingers crossed it eases off today.

So sorry to hear that, Least. I had it when I was younger, and it is extremely painful. In my case I was sitting crooked on my wallet and when the doctor explained to me about twisting the spine, I stopped doing that and it resolved. Do you sit straight? Do you get enough exercise? Yoga has also been very helpful to me over the years for other back related issues.

I sit straight up in my chair, but sometimes I have to lean back to not put weight on my left hip. The naproxen I took this morning didn't help any so I just took some ibuprofen. The pain is going down my left leg and is awful. I called my doctor and left a message with his nurse that the naproxen wasn't helping at all. I hope he'll prescribe something else. This is horrible.

Sending some prayers for relief my dear Least. I have sciatic pain myself and know how excruciating it can be. Have to tried some chair yoga? Seated pigeon might help.

Least, I've had sciatica and have found some simple exercises that really help when it's at it's worst and also in keeping it under control. Take a look on YT and search for sciatica pain exercises. Gentle stretches on the lower back area can begin to help the pain.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my back for the last few weeks. It's extremely painful. The pain shoots down my right leg. Sometimes, my leg will feel numb like it's going to sleep. OTC medications don't seem to make any difference. A pharmacist suggested aspercreme to put on the painful area but I haven't tried it yet cause the pain seems to be going away. I've been through this before and know that moving around seems to help, but can be tough cause of the pain. Have you considered physical therapy? Might help to align everything. Hope you feel better soon. John

My doctor's nurse called me and said he wants to see me tomorrow at 10 so I'll get a taxi and go. I'm going to beg him for something stronger than naproxen as that's not helping at all. I don't want to take opioids but I will if they'll relieve this dreadful pain.

When I had sciatica due to a disc prolapse I found paracetamol (acetaminophen) worked.

Oh my least…I had sciatica for about four months. I know the pain! Physical therapy for a few weeks made me good as new. There are certain exercises that help specifically with sciatica. I hope that helps you.

Prayers for your recovery 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
