What demands is life asking of you that are so hard to deal with sober?

I'm really happy to see this thread and to see you forging ahead, Waterox!

Let that long bad weekend be a nothing more than a kink in a much much longer chain of sober time.

Thanks but I wish I could say it was the end. Yesterday I had a couple of beers. It's been over 24 hours now and it's 9pm on Saturday and I'm feeling rather depressed. I'm trying not to disrepair.

I've been around the block enough to know everything is uphill from here. The triggers just get worse and worse and will culminate with the holidays, the worst time of the year for me.

It's easy just to think "screw it" on the one hand, all the while KNOWING that putting that poison in my body brings nothing but trouble and misery. That in and of itself is rather disheartening. Rock and a hard place. Can't drink, can't not.

Can't drink, can't not.
I remember feeling like that - but it wasn't true.

I put a lot of time and energy into my drinking - I had to put more time and energy into not drinking.

your addiction will tell you that sounds onerous or beyond you, but it's not....you've done it before.

Get sober again - clear your mind of pollutants - and then you can start working on how to stay sober?

A reminder why you started this thread:

That means checking in before you pick up the drink.

You are also vague about these "triggers" that are going to make you drink. You don't have to share with us what they are, but it makes it hard for us to help. However, if you are going to learn to cope with them, you are going to move them out of the general category of excuses to drink to the more specific issue you are going to address sober.

What's up OX?

There's no other way to go but up. You know things will get better.

By the way, this does not have to be like last year. It just rationally does not have to be. You do have the choice to make it different. Remember this is a race, not a sprint!

By the way, NBA season is getting closer so you don't have to drink!

Cheers!
