Decision Fatigue
Day 45 rolled right on by and we're looking square at 50 days. I won't say there hasn't been a little temptation but all it's been is little. A tiny, whining voice.
I stumbled across something the other day that resonated with me, something called Decision Fatigue. It's a fascinating read, kind of long for a newspaper article, including studies showing people making their default decision as their mental energy expires. And if your default has been to drink, which way do you think you're likely to go when mentally drained? It also discusses how people with fewer economic resources typically have to make more decisions of import and those decisions can cost more mental energy when you're balancing paying the rent vs buying food. It might be a bit of a stretch to link alcoholism to low-wage jobs but the potential for influence might be there.
