Welcome.

What an eloquent first post. That is how I felt almost 4 years ago. This place, AA (and the 12-step program) have helped me stay sober, and to work a program of recovery that means that sobriety could become bearable, comfortable, and nowadays preferable to drinking, and allowed me to address the self-loathing, resentments and hopelessness that I carried around for so long that I didn't even realise what a burden they were.

I've also recently become aware of ACoA (Adult Child of Alcoholic) Anon. I would urge you to take a look at their Laundry List and consider if there are traits you recognise. If so, that fellowship could be very useful to you.

Anyway. Welcome. I hope you'll keep reading and posting here at SR.

Great post.

First, the sleepless nights should be short, and are worth being sober and finally sleeping real sleep!

I totally relate to the lies. I swore that i drank because my life was hard. My life was hard because i drank.
