Well, am at my Mama’s place. Had a little health concern and got a call from the nurse. Settled down again now, without any inconvenient trips to emergency or anything. All I could think as I was driving here is...”I am unimpaired, in my right mind, sober, present and accounted for.” Thankful.

Morning. A “balmy” 32F here. Sunny, though.

Tired. Very blah. All seems like such a long slog to me these days. Still better than a sick, hungover slog punctuated by ever shorter moments of boozey buzz.

Sorry...just Debbie Downer reporting in for the day!

I work in IT, some days im debugging applications hidden behind three screens.
I listen to music while working. Nobody bothers me about it cause i am good enough at what i do.

Today I listened to Chris CORNELL (audioslave, soundgarden....) live accoustic stuff.

from wikipedia :
Died May 18, 2017 (aged 52)

You often hear that pot leads to harder drugs. But I think alcohol is what leads you to everything, because it takes away the fear. The worst drug experimentation I ever did was because I was drunk and didn't care."[23][/B]

In May 2007, Cornell was honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for "his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund and his devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process"

When asked how he beat his addictions, Cornell stated, "It was a long period of coming to the realization that this way (sober) is better. Going through rehab, honestly, did help... the individual kinda has to want it... not kinda, you have to want it...."

There’s nothing you can do...if your best friend has a problem and it's very serious, there's nothing you're going to be able to do about it and it was sad for me and the people around me. Sad for me when friends of mine died because of it."

Wide awake :

spiritus contra spiritum

I'm really reflecting on that today. Awuh posted a copy of the letter Carl Jung wrote to Bill Wilson yesterday and even though I've read the letter before, for some reason this Latin phrase hit me yesterday. Funny how different things get through on different days. That's one of the things I like about SR. I may have to wade through 10,000 people carrying 10,000 rocks, but then I find one bright and shiny gem.

Bix, you'll be okay. V, thanks for the thing about Chris Cornell.

....and I have no idea what bugs behind screens are but it makes me itchy.

Bimini : CG Jung : "Jung believed that this journey of transformation, which he called individuation, is at the mystical heart of all religions. It is a journey to meet the self and at the same time to meet the Divine.

Is it maybe the dignity we are all searching for ?

Absolutely. Didn't you ever feel like you were connected to the Divine while under the influence? I know I did. Jung postulated that using/drinking blocks the actual divinity experience...that really resonates with me, because I couldn't stay connected with my higher self or God when I was drinking and I felt that horrible void before I quit. It's all fake and it leaves when the influence of the liquid/drug leaves.

Now that I have some sober time I can see just how evil it is. It separated me from me.

every time I go to London & get a table seat on the train back I seem to end up opposite someone drinking. red wine fumes all the way home tonight fortunately it was pretty dreadful wine & smelled foul so I wasn't the least bit tempted

Felt rubbish all of yesterday.... lack of sleep, stress, vivid drinking dream and woke up with hangover like symptoms.... lasted till late afternoon 🙄
Slept better last night.... says me .... whilst being awake nearly 3 hours before I need to and not able to get back off 😂
Hugs to all from me
Xx

BixBees, petals - I hope both of you are OK today.

I agree Andy drinkers and even worse drunks on trains are a pain, it is not just late night either at this time of the year.

We are not so busy at work - we had a paper plane distance competition this morning, my effort was barely credible but the winning plane was so far ahead of everyone else that it could probably have crossed the Atlantic.
