Unhappy I have to get sober

I am a binge drinker, and if I don't stop it will kill me.

Yesterday I drank two bottles of wine!

I just drank all day, instead of doing anything productive.

I am hungover and completely miserable.

Hi Criostail - good to see you again

you absolutely can leave drinking behind. Takes a little effort and a lot of change but it's completely doable. Have you any ideas on how you might stay sober this time?

I am still trying to figure out a plan at the moment.

Hi Criostail ,
It's a major step forward for you to admit you need to stop drinking .
I found that my drinking was hard work and was killing me too. After a few times trying to quit I am at 88 days and love this sober life and never wan to go back to that living nightmare .

You really can do this .

Hi Criostail - I was a binge drinker too. And I have done what you did yesterday over and over in the past 36 years that I drank. I say was because I have been forced by a situation to admit I have a problem and be serious about it instead of kinda thinking I have a problem and playing around with sobriety. I am figuring out a plan also. I am committed to no alcohol for the rest of my life. My plan involves figuring out what I am going to do when I am lonely, bored or tired and just running on autopilot. I have to change that automatic not thinking voice and my actions that have me buying alcohol and cultivate a voice that gives a crap. I have been pretending that everything is ok for years and years. Obviously not. I wish you the best with your plan and your resolution to save your own life. Truly knowing if you don't quit you will die is powerful.

That is exactly what I was doing before I quit. I wasted a lot of days drinking and not being productive.

That is great you realize you have a problem with it. Now you can take the next steps to get it out of your life. Keep reading as much as you can on here. Everyone on this site has helped me so much.

Worst part is I ended up opening a bottle of someone else's wine. It's a common type so I thought I would easily get it in the local shop and replace it before they found out but NOPE the wine is out of stock!

I am so hungover and stressed out. I hate myself for being like this.
