Back off the booze!

Well its me again. Day 1!

Slipped up over Christmas and New Year and carried on till last night.

Valium taper from my Gp again but the anxiety is still pretty bad.

Not looking forward to trying to sleep and night sweats

Im eating well though and drinking coconut water.

Im hoping this time it works. I might give AA ago this time when the anxiety calms down.

Im also taking baclofen from the GP but I'm not sure if its doing much.

Roll on 2017 and hello to everyone again! Hop is back!

Welcoem back

My advice is to make a plan and follow through with it now...you may lose the motivation to do anything different this time once you feel a little better?

As long as you learn from your mistakes and develop a good plan of action you can still succeed hopscotch!

Glad you're back! As a devoted AAer - who didn't want to go at first- getting to a meeting now (then) was the best idea.

You can do it this time- like Dee said, get a plan and get going!

Glad you made it back hopscotch. Hope you don't put yourself through this again, just reading your post sends my head spinning back to those days and I'm glad I'm not there. Hang in there.

Welcome back hopscotch123. Instead of hoping and waiting why not take charge of your sobriety today and take concrete, actionable steps? If AA is going to be your recovery program, putting it off until later won't help you today.

Try an online AA meeting - all you need is the internet ;-) Or how about joining the class of January 2017? https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...rt-thread.html

I understand anxiety very well, I had it during withdrawals too and I am diagnosed with GAD and health anxiety too, so it's a daily battle for me. Believe me when I say that getting out and talking to people about your addiction, even if it's just via the internet, will help you in many ways.

Glad you're back! Come join us in the Class of Jan 2017 - it's a good group!

I'm back to day 1 as well. Last time I had over a year with AA and this site. I didn't do the AA a ton, but the meetings were incredibly helpful those first few months when things we're rough. Couldn't hurt to try!

The online meetings on this site helped me a ton too. They may be better if you're having anxiety about going out?

It was only when I quit doing all of the things that worked that I started thinking about drinking again

Welcome back hopscotch. New Year's and Christmas are such tough times - I quit on NYE (I drank all day, and still couldn't catch the buzz that I used to get) I'm kind of glad that I have almost 12 months to get used to this new life before the festive season hits again!

I get anxiety as well - it had me awake for half of last night. I'm practicing just riding the wave when it comes though; it always passes eventually. Do you get anxious in certain situations, or is it just an overall feeling that isn't tied to anything in particular?

Good luck with your first sober day

Well last night was terrible. My Grandma who lives in a apart of the house had a fit (she's ok now). Ambulance came but they also checked me over as I was shaking a stuff. Drenched in sweat, like I had been swimming. Sleep was terrible, hot and cold etc.

Hopefully today will be better. Need to wash all my bed stuff though.

Coconut water and chicken soup broth are my go-to foods when I'm sick. My bed smells so bad if I'm detoxing, holy crap. o_o Feel better soon.

Sounds like a rough night! But hey, if you can make it through that sober than I bet you'll be okay! A day like today with nothing going on should be no problem

I'm glad you're back with us, hopscotch. I'm sorry for your misery, but here's where it can end. Hopefully you'll get some good rest. You'll be back among the living soon.

What a surprise last night was. Slept all night and zero hot/cold feelings! Feeling great today already?!

I have a date at the end of next week which has been organised for a while but will stay sober. Will be tricky but doable. I know its not advised but if I'm not drinking then I need something to keep me motivated!
