Do you have any quick tips for staying sober?
If so, please share them here. It would be a massive help to me and no doubt others
I know it's not that simple but people must have some tips and tricks they've picked up.

I never let myself get thirsty, I always have lots of soft drinks in and the kettle ready for tea. I don't have any alcohol in the house.
Exercise is another good one, gym, walk the dog, clean the house, anything physical.
good luck

Build for yourself a vision of a sober life that you yourself, personally admire.
Find examples of sober role models in the world.
Paint a clear, vivid image of the benefits to you personally of being sober.
Create a compelling, heartfelt reality that you can envision every day - and ground yourself in that reality each day as you rise.
It isn't a 'quick' tip, necessarily.... but if you do this, and you take action every day to honor it....
You will find yourself living that sober life, gratefully, joyfully, with abundance and presence - before you know it.

Take a index card and write on it, "I'm never going to drink again. On this I vow."
But only write it if you mean it. Really mean it. Write it only if you can accept that your drinking is done. This is your commitment to sobriety.
And if you write it down, keep it with you and refer to it every time the thought to drink enters your head.
One tip out of the hundreds you'll need to keep you sober.

I hate to be a "negative Nelly" but I simply could no longer deal with my Negative behavior (I was becoming destructive, self-destructive, sometimes abusive, acting very selfishly, etc., etc.) I'm not suggesting that you are any of these things, but I was certainly the center of my world. Reflecting upon this is very painful, but - hey- if that's what it takes.................. The people around me deserve better, and so do I.
As simple as it sounds don't drink remember you are in full control of your choice to not drink my advice stick with that choice in the meantime check this out

Figure out your specific triggers during the day and plan strategies to avoid them. For example, do you normally drink as soon as you walk in the door after work? Then do something different as soon as you walk in the door. Do you stop at the same place to pick up your booze? Then find a different route. Write down the triggers and write down your strategies. They will form part of your sobriety plan. Do whatever it takes to do things differently so that you are not triggered to drink. I did not sit on my sofa and watch TV in the evenings for about the first 3 months because that used to be my drinking time and "zone".
Good luck! It can be done and you can do it!

Start doing something else. Exercise, pick up a hobby, learn a language, something that will occupy your time. Depending on your mind frame it may be easier to focus on starting than stopping something.
Though that said in the end you ll still need to focus on getting and staying sober, I wouldn't be here again if I did that the first time round.

I have a doll shaped like a can of beer that I stick pins in.
Seriously, I do a lot of Sudoku puzzles to distract myself from impure thoughts. Just started doing huge jigsaws for similar reasons. Works like a charm.
