Dear Lord, help me to do my work well, to have the memory of an elephant, and by some miracle to be able to do five things at once – answer four telephones while typing a letter that “must go out today.” When the letter doesn’t get signed until tomorrow, please give me the strength to keep my mouth shut.
Dear Lord, never let me lose my patience, even when the boss has me searching files for hours for the histology report that is later discovered on his desk.
Help me to read his mind, his handwriting, and carry out all instructions without explanation.
Let me always know exactly where my boss is and when he’ll be back, even though he never tells me these things.
And Lord, please give me the foresight not to hide papers that will be asked for in a couple of days even though I was told emphatically, “Move these — they are cluttering up the place.”
I ask these blessings, dear Lord, in the name of secretaries everywhere. Amen.

Just joined, put a long post in the June newcomer thread. Long story short-weekends are my weakness. Here's to getting through this first one without a drop, and looking forward to many more.

Hey UN7775! Welcome to SR and the weekender!

This group started for just the reason you said. Weekends can be tough. For this guy anyways.

Jump in. No rules. We celebrate living soberly here. Post pics. Post music. Have sober fun with folks that get it. If you hit a snag. Speak up. Never feel like you need to hide.

What are your sober plans this weekend?

And to every new person or regular... Plans?

Going to be spectacular in Maine this weekend. Beach chair at my beckon call.

K

No specific plans other than endless yard/housework (we have 2.5 acres and a 180 year old house). I'm hoping to spend time splashing in the pool with the kiddos (and for once remembering how much fun it is), and I have a new mindfulness book I'd like to read, to help with the anxiety.

No worries Behan, I'm not a collector either but sort of learned more about it since I've moved to the country side. Thanks for your reply...

My brain stopped working this afternoon. I'm looking forward to the weekend. I stopped at the farmer's market and bought candy - that butter/sugar crunch thing I raved about a couple of weeks ago, and three plants. Potted plants were on sale so I picked them up for half of what they cost earlier in the season. They are now adding color to my otherwise really bland office - until I take them home.

Kids are with mother-in-law until probably Saturday. Guess I'll have free time tonight and tomorrow. I plan to attend my usual AA meeting tomorrow evening. Tonight? I don't know what I'll do. Plant my new stuff?

Mr. Ruby and I aren't speaking much at the moment. He's working and has later hours but he's also gone out and not come home a couple of times so I'm not happy about that.

Marty, that's a drag about the interlock device. Hopefully it isn't for too much longer.

How late do the polls stay open in Britain? I'm reading The Guardian online and it says final hours. That's late.

I was reading the stories on Donald Trump and his golf courses. Not very flattering.

And not to clog up the thread with tons of posts. Led Zepplin has been cleared of stealing the riff by a jury in Los Angeles.

Hi Ruby, the polls stay open til 10pm so another 10 min. I think we will know by tomorrow breakfast when we're eating our clean eggs. Chances are my egg will land on the telly screen LOL.

The scots are not very happy, only heard it on the news myself... I'm hopeful that there might be some egg throwing when he shows up...

Good night, I'm off to bed.

Lol!2 out of 3 for me (no shed and 3 floors up)

Marty - washing up liquid is fine for summer months. How much longer do you have to have the device? Hopefully not much longer

That's it Polls closed. I bought a tin of chocolate biscuits for the workers at my polling station as it's a thankless job

A year seems like a long time but it will pass before you know it. I hope the device stops acting up.
