I would love a road trip too. I went outside to get the electric blanket out of the travel trailer and it made me really wish I was on a camping trip.

MesaMan- My husband and I drove through death valley at 126 F. No A/C.

LA- I have quite a herbal tea collection too. It really does help. My dad left me in the car for a minute to do something when I was little and I put the car in reverse and he had to jump in to save me. haha

RedAndy- I hope the pain goes away.

I haven't done too much today. I made a healthy lunch and I have been helping my husband with things for his work.

You might not be far off with your theory of Finn being able to see the world in color. At various times throughout a baby's early development they become aware of different things, or stimuli. It get their little brains all excited. Then it's hard to get them settled down. Dark room, soft music, gentle soothing. Baby massage. These things all help.

Oh and about cars and kids - remember when back seats didn't even have seat belts? And when infant seats were just plastic buckets with a couple of straps?? A wonder any of us survived.

I just got done shoveling 3 or so inches of very wet, heavy snow off the driveway. I decided against using the snowblower. I will feel this tomorrow.

I don't know how many times I've said, "How did I ever live this long?" Between all the mistakes that had to have happened when parents looked the other way for two seconds and all the times I purposely did stupid stuff, it's just a miracle.

..and I still have all my body parts. Well, a tooth and an appendix, but they had turned on me and had to go.

I'm just back from a terrible driving lesson. He said I seemed stressed out, I am out of practice over Christmas and I have lost my confidence.
I cried a little bit. Everything is just too much right now.
I went to a coffee shop after to wait for my dad. He came in and sat down, looked at me and froze. I said "what's wrong? You seem tense". He goes "your eyes look funny".

I bend over backwards trying to please and all I get in return is lectures, criticism and "your eyes look funny".
Yeah I'm angry right now.

My dad seems to be angry tonight which is unusual for him. I don't know if it's me or if he is contemplating the big 7-0 tomorrow. I know I feel reflective around my birthday and New Year.

Anyway, I worry way too much.

One week sober! That's a long stretch for me. And it's going to get a lot longer.

It's pouring rain here and all of the snow is melting. But tomorrow night, the temperature is supposed to plummet and everything will freeze. It's gonna be a real icy nightmare.

JD, you picked up on that honey bees thing. Albert has been gone for a good long time now and honeybees are extremely threatened at the moment. What a prediction.

I particularly like the walking and smiling suggestion. I think that is key although I always feel like a lunatic if I'm walking along, smiling to myself.
In my case I AM a lunatic, so -- works for me! Plus it's often my natural tendency. Even when I was a teenager the other kids in high school would wonder what I was smiling about.

Nice apple discussion in this thread. It's cool how many varieties are in the stores now. Plus things like purple potatoes.

Red Delicious used to be my favorite when I was a kid, but now that it has come up, these days it does generally seem like they are on their way to rotting by the time they get to the kitchen.

EDIT: back to page 5 -- I may never catch up!

Hi, Weekenders.

Busy today, so no time to catch up with you.

Ken - Have a great trip to New Hampshire.

Mesa -Thanks a lot for drains cleaning masterclass. Sounds like a solution.

I am finally all pedicured-manicured. Stash of uber-healthy food is cooked and ready for the next week. Boxing class tomorrow.

Bank has tried to spoil my mood with another reminding call about upcoming loan payment. I put the cell on mute and let it rest in another room. They've already reminded me about that right before NY. Not my worries any more.

Tonight relaxing - listening to Miles Davis and smiling.

Have a great day/evening, all)
