I'm 10 days sober now and physically feeling good, and mentally a lot sharper. Thing is my mind has started jumping forward to my upcoming stag do and wedding. "How will you stay sober? Your friends will think you've gone mad! People will be disappointed..." Then a vivid mental picture comes up of me being sober whilst everyone else is going for it in these different circumstances..

I'm trying to take one day at a time, and can't ever see myself drinking again (the tape ends badly!), I just wonder if the AV is trying to say, " look at the future, it's futile trying to quit" because it wants me off the wagon now..?

The mental images are really vivid...

Anyone else had similar???

If not, why not avoid the stag and just show for the wedding?

Yes it's me getting married... I'm think of doing an activity for the stag to Raise money for charity, that way the booze will play second fiddle.

Remember the addictive voice is just a thought, a feeling, and doesn't have to become an action. It's a part of you that you can ignore or defy.

I'm sober six years and still get thoughts of drinking once in a while. But I recognize them for what they are, an ugly part of my past, and dismiss them with the disdain they are due.
