Maybe give some AA meetings a try - it'd get you out of the house and some people to chat to other than (and about, once you've got to know people you trust and feel comfortable with) the GF and your daughter so you can gain a bit more perspective on the situation.

One drink = straight back to my old chaotic life which included drinking to oblivion every session and drinking for days and days on end to stop only out of complete exhaustion from the mental and physical exertion.

I was the same on my 25-30 a day cigarette habit
