Unhappy Gabapentin Withdrawals. HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST?

I'm going through hell. I started this pill for anxiety on Feb. 11th 2015 and I had been tapered off of it because it seemed to make my anxiety worse. I took my last pill on Wednesday (Mar. 4th) and I have been going through terrible effects ever since. While I was going through the weening off process, I would feel many uncomfortable feelings in my arms, legs, and back that would make it impossible for me to relax...So, my hospital gave me lorazepam to help stop this. It did, but now I'm running out and the withdrawal symptoms still persist. I was supposed to be through with these symptoms on Thursday according to the doctor. Today is Saturday and I'm still suffering.
Here is what I'm going through:
1) Anxiety Increase
2) Crying Spells for No Reason
3) Depression
4) Restlessness
5) Sleep disturbances
6) Tenseness, Pressure, and General Uncomfort in Arms, Legs, and Back.
7) Muscle Pain
8) Fatigue
9) Occasional Twitching
I wasn't on the pill for that long! How much longer will I be going through this suffering?!

I'm sorry I really don't know anything about this drug or how long withdrawal symptoms persist. I think you should contact your doctor. A hot bath and ice cream can't hurt.

I don't know anything about Gabapentin, but you had only been taking it for a few weeks? It sounds like it's something your dr prescribed and then he told you the withdrawals would be over by last Thursday. Could the feelings you are having be due to the anxiety you have been feeling?

I've been on gabapentin in the past but for nerve pain. I broke my neck and I get radiculopathy in my arms. I was on it for approximately 6 months and stopped it slowly without any adverse problems. I didn't realize it was given for any kind of anxiety. Do call your doctor as you may be withdrawing from the lorazepam. In any case, you do need to see your physician. Good luck.

Oh, God...Lorazepam causes withdrawals too? Even though I only have 12 of them? I haven't talked to a doctor but I talked to someone who works at a pharmacy and they said that I should be over it in 5 days, today being the first day of ive.

We can't give any kind of medical advice but talking to your dr or pharmacist about the lorazepam would be a good idea.

I've taken gabapentin for nerve pain, didn't have any adverse effects. Lorazepam? Yeah, it's a benzo, and can cause withdrawals but I highly suggest you talk to your doctor about this.

Different people react in different ways. Some people are more sensitive to the affects of meds than others.

So sorry you are going through this, but please do call your doctor and tell him/her what is going on.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Just give your doctor or pharmacist a call.

Don't panic. That doesn't help any.

As Anna mentioned you may just be dealing with the anxiety.

I don't have a doctor, the only ones I see are at hospitals. My local pharmacy is also closed on weekends. Should I worry about Lorazepam withdrawals? I've only taken 7 of them and they're only like 1,2 or 5mg

krillen - are there other pharmacies that ARE open on weekends? The variation of doses you say, about the lorazepam, are a big variation.

I'm not trying to give medical advice, but this is something you could learn by going on the internet - benzo withdrawals can cause seizures.

Please find a pharmacist that is open, or call a doctor. Most hospitals have help lines where nurses answer.

I just want you to be safe, and I think you need the input of a professional medical person.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

I know in Australia there is a national 24 hour hotline you can call which is staffed by nurses. I think you can also have doctors come out. Perhaps there is something similar where you live? (I looked up Hominy and it said it was a food.)

Hi Krillin. Going to the ER was a very smart decision and I am glad that you checked out OK and were given sound advice. It might be a good idea to bring the original prescription bottles with you to your appointment for your new doctor. Sometimes they like to see exactly what was prescribed and taken.

Welcome to the forum! Are you recently recovering from a substance? There is a lot of support and experience here for you.
