Day 1 again!!!
Day 1 again!!!
It's been about a year and a 1/2 since I last signed in. I reached day 28 and decided I could manage my drinking - how wrong I was. So I'm trying again after spending the past 12 months lying to myself about my drinking. I'm determined to stay sober this time

Hi and welcome back.
This getting and STAYING sober is an experience we need to remember for the time we think “it wasn’t that bad.” It is our “brain” that has been soaked on alcohol speaking and it wants more of the poison that’s killing us mentally and emotionally then physically.
The so called simple way to short circuit this thinking is to not drink one day at a time in a row.
After a short period we WORK on the reasons we drink which requires a scary word CHANGE which we naturally run terrified from and keep repeating the same old same old.
The old fashioned way to start to defeat this deadly baggage we carry is to get honest with ourselves about OUR drinking and ACCEPT that we cannot drink in safety one day at a time in a row.
It’s that simple, didn’t say always easy.
BE WELL

Welcome back Gracie!!
What's the plan to stay Sober? because I would always have great intentions and then in another few weeks, my mind would convince me in isolation that again I could manage a drink, and I'd forget my resolve a few weeks ago.
Support for me was key, even checking in daily with SR will keep your mind focused on the job at hand, others use meetings, but whatever it is, something to counteract your own mind, a second opinion on things, something to short circuit your own thoughts!!
You can do this!!

Sometimes it takes us some further experimentation to provide ourselves with sufficient evidence to come to believe....
Welcome back. You can do this.
