December is a ridiculous month to stop drinking!
Like I said - I was just trying to convey the arguments I'v got going on in my head - it might have been a bit tongue in cheek and a poor attempt at British humour........
My intention was never to offend, Oklabh.
And I posted in the newcomers section because I am one.......
and yes......I am dealing with my AV any way I can - but mostly with the help of this forum.

Hendrix, I did get the British humour - being British might help there. It's shocking how reasonable that AV can sound, though isn't it. Had me going for a bit till I got to the end. My own AV doesn't seem to have found a way round my 'The decision is made. I'm not changing my mind' mantra but it tries hard. Well done on a month.

I got you Hendrix, probably because my AV likes to make that same kind of argument and likes to bargain about dates in the far future (never again seems like an excessive amount of time, you could just see how you are doing in a few months...). I think that writing it out is a great way to see the holes in that kind of line of thinking.
I knew as I got to the middle of the op that there just had to be a spin. I think its cute funny and oh so true how r AV sounds. May be a little confusing to a brand new comer, but not upsetting. They probably r saying boy I've felt like that before" they just don't know yet its the AV doing its thing. The more they lurk they'll learn.
For me I needed to get serious about being a non drinker, there is never going to be a good time!!
There was always going to be birthdays, weddings, occasions, Xmas, New Years, what is going to happen next year? because Xmas is an annual event, and it was always going to be an issue and a hurdle to deal with if I continued to open the flood gates!!
TODAY is a great day to be Sober and be a non drinker from here on in, but that's going to mean making some tough decisions, not participating in activities and not hanging out with certain people, we can't simply remove alcohol and continue on with the same lifestyle!!
You can do this, and I think you've already realised the solution!!

Nice job writing all that down. Even at two months my av came up with some pretty convincing rationalities. Instead of bottling it all up dealing with it alone it's a smarter idea to do what you just did. Great job. Keep it up!
Way to go on a month! I have to benefit of coming to this post late and not running off at the mouth and I do get British humor.
It is possible to quit in December. I have a year sober today, not January 1. I made it through last Christmas and all the attendant festivities and parties and all, thank you very much!
So tell the AV to shut up and find someone else to bother but it isn't Hendrix.

It is good you are trying to enjoy yourself. I used booze to feel good for along time. Eventually I got in trouble and my health went bad. After living on the streets for awhile.i decided for a change.
Totally feel silly because it wasn't till I was halfway through it that I realized it was a joke...
Very clever and spot on. Its interesting to read someone else's AV through their words as it makes my AV sound even more ridiculous.
Thanks for sharing.

Good luck with that one.....sounds very risky and dangerous to me. Revisit why you stopped to begin with. I'd love to have a holiday drink or two....but I know it would not end like that and the consequences could be scarey stuff.
Hendrix, Congratulations to you on your AV recognition! Coming along nicely, your post describes that first and most part of AVRT down to a T.
I can see that it has given some of us pause, I hope that your post is read again carefully to see who signed it!
I wish you and yours a truly happy holiday season, a Merry Christmas, may it be the first of many. And my condolences to your AV. Too bad for IT.
