We've all been there, back to day one and not knowing why the hell we did it. But you haven't lost those two years of sobriety - that's just amazing! So you know you can do this. Pick yourself up and keep going. We are all here for you. Keep posting

Don't beat yourself up. The harder people tell themselves not to do something, the harder the temptation. I was sober for 2+ years a good few years back. I have struggled to stay sober for more than a few weeks at a time.

Well done on 2 years, Remember it's just a number. 1 DAAT

does it make sense?
no.
and that's the nature of the condition: beyond sense.
therefore, thinking sensible thoughts and making sensible decisions is in and of itself often not enough to not go back to drinking.

from my time around others here and in other places it seems that daily actions and engagement with others improves the chances.

it not making sense was a major stumbling block for me; kept me returning to drinking a gazillion times, because i was convinced it HAD to make sense and it HAD to respond to simply my will and sensible intellect.

I honestly wouldn't look at this as a woe is me,I need to start over, so ashamed thing. It was 1 day after 2 years sober. Forget about it and carry on. I myself don't really believe in the counting the days thing. For me it's counter productive. Today isn't day 1. Today is today. If you stay sober today. You win.

Moving forward today. Just shocking that its always a struggle, even after years.

I don't count days either, I know it was roughly two years because the last big screwup was just before Halloween.

I hope that you find and work a program of recovery.

Just, you may want to have a look at AVRT threads in the Secular forum.

I have read some AVRT literature.

Seems like a very sensible approach, and most of it resonates well with me.
