It was no big deal either. Quitting wasn't that hard. Nothing seemed that hard. Then I slipped up.

Hi there. It doesn't take away your 2 years of hard work. Make tomorrow day 1 again and get back on track.

The biggest issue will be admitting that I failed to my wife and kid.

Why should this be tough at all?

It seems so simple: just don't do it. Didn't even bother me; except I guess somehow it did.

It seemed so easy not to with my family on the line: "Ill never do it again".

And today it was so easy to do it. With my family equally on the line; I just didn't play it that way.

Did something happen to trigger it?

This thing is relentless.

Try not to beat yourself up too much tho - you made a mistake - get back on track.
Don't compound the error.

The only thing worse than drinking again would be to continue to drink, y'know?

I don't know.

Lot's of booze in the house, but that hasn't triggered me recently.

I can only spot time and lack of culpability. I will admit what happened, but may escape with my kid/wife still. I am willing to lose them, though. They don't deserve this.

Hi justadumbguy, it can get almost blasé, I think. All of a sudden we have some sober days under our belt and think we are in control. We can have a drink, no big deal. Nope, we aren't wired that way, to take it or leave it.

I know I think fleetingly that way sometimes.

Try not to beat yourself up, you know what you have to do to stay sober, don't be talked down by the av. It's always there, we're just stronger, hopefully.

Hey, you messed up, but lets get it into perspective here - you've not murdered anyone Alcohol, as you know, is a depressant. Have a good sleep and wake up ready to move on from it

Hi Just a Guy. From something you said here in post #9, it appears that you fell off the wagon today. Are you drinking now?

You wouldn't be here if you actually believed that. Did you make a mistake? Yes. Was it a big one? Probably. Is it the end of the world? Absolutely not. Make a plan to move forward, be honest and figure out how to keep it from happening again. Plus we are on your side now too...keep reaching out for help.

Welcome to the family.

You're not just a dumb guy. You made a mistake. Just do your best from now on not to repeat it.
