Years of clean time flushed...just to get high
Hey Carl,
You have stood by me through not one...but TWO relapses in the past year and a half. It was on my blog and both times it truly helped me to read your words. It takes so much courage to admit it when we mess up....Hell, you also kept me in line about other stupid decisions I was going to make.... You are invaluable.
I truly hope you are ok....and am wishing you all the best.
hugs,
Jess

Carl, I can't believe you are in "ah, f=ck it" mode with this slip. If you were, you would never have posted in the first place. Please come back. You will give all of us here who are struggling every day to stay on the recovery path, hope, by showing us that the time we have spent sober and healing is not in vain ~ that it gives us strength and knowledge to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, when and if, our slips occur. You have inspired too many of us, too many times for me to believe that you don't have this strength and knowledge to do this for yourself. I cannot wait to hear from you again.
my Sponsor pointed out to me once -- with a question asked
what was your best experience ?
answer -- it was your worst experience
why -- because it was so convincing
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
it took my last big relapse to bring me to my senses
and admit that I was alcoholic
and make a firm decision not to deceive myself yet again
with the thoughts of -- I can control it this time
proven wrong (for me) every time
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
before we know it
we have all of our sober days back plus a day
that was my goal
and I hope that it might also be your goal (get them years and days back plus a day)

To my SR sisters and brothers, your outpouring of support, your prayers, your kind words, and your enjoining pleas to get back on the recovery journey touch me deeply. I am moved beyond words.
Thank you.
I’m okay. Just trying to get my head around what happened.
Many of you deserve replies to your specific questions and/or concerns. I will try to do so in the coming days. In the meantime, I’ll direct to a new thread where I’ve provided a general comment about my relapse.

O, Thank the Law-wd! Will head on over to your story - before heading out to second meeting for today, no. 71 - after multiple relapses over 15 + months.
Yep, it's 'If not NOW, then when?' Applies to all of us, dear Carl. That's why so many have gathered around you.
