Doing

Well a good point was made to me by DarkDays to stop trying. So I am now staring this new thread because I am doing!!!!

Succeeded through Day 4. Have had a challenging couple of days and conquered a new 'yay I'm at the airport lets have a drink'. So hit it hard with a good cup of English Breakfast!

Happy Friday All!

Survived day 5 at the folks house without too much drama. Bit of anxiety today but will have an early night and hopefully get some sleep! Happy Saturday folks :-)

I'm "doing" today too. Great thread. Finally said the words out loud to my husband, tho he was quite aware already "I'm an alcoholic". And I will stop.

Thats the spirit ! "trying" is just that trying.

I am going to stop drinking. Is now you

Wishing you all the best, its cool to be sober.

I have just come home from a restaurant meal with 3 other couples , I thought the evening was going to be a bit of a chore not because I was not drinking but I was just not in the mood, as normal sobriety wins again. The clarity coolness of being sober when in conversations is just to good, I laughed so much tonight , I think drinking would ruin every single second of me being social again.

Good luck, hey no point saying good luck because you are "doing".

You will be fine.

Thanks DarkDays. Must have been a great night enjoying dinner with friends. Sounds like you had a fun night. Laughing is always a great feeling. Funny when I was reading your post I was thinking about how many times I have gone to dinner. Talked to people and can't remember the conversation the next day! Everyone else would be on their second glass but I would have had a bottle before I went to dinner! I'm looking forward to enjoying dinner with friends and remembering their stories!

Have had a stressful but good weekend. Family dynamics I normally numb with a couple of glasses of wine but have said no all weekend! It's actually refreshing! The dynamics are there whether I'm drunk or sober! Haha.

OMG Alli,
I could have written your post. The corollary to not remembering their conversations is how do I fake it when I see them again and they ask about a particular topic "we" talked about.
So true about the dynamics being still there with or without the booze. Such insight. Thanks
