I am in and looking forward to it.

Something about pouring poison down my throat just doesn't sound very good anymore.

Sure I would love a little happy pill but until they come up with one that's harmless - I'll just keep on keeping on.

Good luck everyone and have a GREAT weekend!!!

Hi everyone! Day 22 and I'm ready for another sober weekend. Love this thread! Hubby took the day off today so we are hanging out at his parents getting ready to cook out burgers. His parents do not drink so it is kind of nice to be around non-drinkers, for once. Tomorrow is my SIL's baby shower where there will be plenty of wine punch for everyone who is not pregnant. A little worried my AV will try to convince me that I can "sneak" a little punch without anyone knowing, but I will be prepared for that trick (I hope). Feeling strong today, but you never know what tomorrow will be like?

Hope everyone is doing well and ready for a great and sober weekend. We can all do this

Ken...

Count me in....this is my 5th straight week end...In many many ways it is getting easier, but that AV is still fighting hard...trying to give me lots of reasons to drink...So I will stick close to SR this week end..

Hey ya'll ,
just passin thro' .. had a break for a while just to check i was happily sober without SR , i'm happy to report i was fine .. Some real good books read on gutenberg online free library ..
I'm also slowly reading through walden by Thoreau at the moment so Ken being in a cabin is kinda apt , Don't get cabin fever eh ?

Bank Holiday here in the UK so let's keep it going into monday eh ?

Sober bike is rolling , it's not a race , there is no destination it's all about the ride . We don't plan to fall off our bikes but if we do we don't throw em in the ditch we get up and get back on and get on with learning to be skillful .

Bestwishes, m

*ring ring* @ everyone

I am smiling ear to ear to see all the regulars and new folks!

The cabin belongs to a coworker how let me use it this weekend. Just to swim in the lake will be a treat. And not a bar or drink in sight!

Good to see all my friends here and a pleasure to have new arrivals . It's a supportive place you'll see. So stick around

Sobtiety for me brings out the emotions i have buried with drugs for so long
Sadness , fear and uncertainty combined with excitement and gratefulness. Wow , what a mess. I'm keeping my eye on the prize to get thru it all..
Walking the road to recovery , one day , one step at a time

Weekends are SOOOOO hard for me...and for my DH...we are both addicts. He has the potential to get stoned on Friday and be that way until midday sunday...its been a bad habit for him. I trigger off of him. We are hopeless if that happens.

He is finally starting to surrender. Is working a solid program. however, he just won't call me (we are living out of town from each other right now b/c of work) or his sponsor or sober friends when he needs to b/c of his urges. He is obviously preplanning his parties earlier in the week b/c he will blow several hundred dollars...its not pay day this weekend I Hope this helps.

We are supposed to be together next weekend (a big summer holiday) so he will trigger the following weekend too when we are seperate.

We don't use at all when we are together...just when we are apart...

it sucks.

I pray for us this weekend thanks for this thread. I hope it helps me at least should he leap off the wagon.

A year ago tonight I went out with 2 of my sons and a bunch of their friends to celebrate middle lads birthday and ended up absolutely wasted. My wife was furious at me, my kids were angry that I embarrassed them and I felt hopeless.

Coming up on 8 months sobriety, going grocery shopping with my wife, quiet dinner and then TV.

There have been so many positive changes over those 8 months, from healing relationships, making new sober friends and seeing that there is a very very good life without drinking.

Have a great weekend everyone

Hello You Beautiful Weekenders You,
Just checkin' in from work. Couple of more hours to go. Me and the x are ordering pizza in tonight. Then it's SR Meeting time. I'm going to a work party tomorrow. Not usually a trigger for me, but will be mindful nevertheless. Social situations still make me cringe. Booze or no booze I think I'm just wired that way. Props to Ken for firing up the thread. Welcome to weekender vets and newcomers alike. Like Ken said, we don't have to drink on days that end in y.

Bear hugs,
Cas
