New and hi
Welcome Pete! You've found a fantastic place. Spend lots of time here, there are people here who have been sober for many years who can offer words of wisdom and also those of us who are fairly new who can help you with what worked for us in the beginning.
This place can be a saving grace and we're all here for you!

Welcome Pete!
I wouldn't anticipate what the withdraw symptoms 'could' be, rather take them as they come. Everyone is affected differently and you may do much better than say, ME! lol
Welcome and the people on this forum are great. They have helped me through a TON.

Pete, congrats on joining SR. I'm praying for you in these early days of sobriety. I am on day 100, and I never thought I would be there. Just take it one day or one hour at a time. PM me if you want.
GP just basically told me everything that i have read on this site, but it was the first time ive spoken to somebody and been truthful with what i was saying. Days been up and down as expected.
Hey Pete,
Nice to see another Uk'er (not that it isn't nice to see everyone else) .
I think you've done two great things , been honest with yourself about your drinking and honest with another person , your Dr .. and us in the cyber-world (so thats 3) .
Oh and i guess it's 4 things as it's day 2 today ?
Bestwishes, m

Well done. Know your triggers and distract yourself. Find something without alcohol that you enjoy drinking. Try a bath, chocolate, a book, keep busy. Remember alcohol is not a treat, reward or deserved, it is a socially acceptable drug that a huge number of people can't control. We think it makes things better, it makes them worse.
Sobriety gives what alcohol promises.
