A little nervous

Hi Everyone.
Tomorrow I am going in for an appointment that involves novocaine injections into my lower back. I have a herniated disc, and Arthritis in the facet joints. It has been a very painful situation for many years. I have had two sets of Cortisone injections over the last 2 months. At the end of each working shift, I am in the same position with pain.
The doctor has prescribed Valium for this procedure. I have this feeling that this procedure is going to be extremely painful. The cortisone shots were very painful, and I did not take meds for those procedures. I will be walking to the appointment, and walking back. Its a 15 min walk. It may take longer considering the Valium. I am not allowed to drive for obvious reasons.
Anyways, I am needing a little comfort. So, I am reaching out.

Thank you,
Mizzuno

I hope it's not as painful as you expect it might be Miz, and I really hope it helps.

Is there noone to pick you up afterwards, or no chance of getting a cab? if a 15 walk after can be avoided, I'd do it...

I agree with Dee. A 15 minute walk afterwards doesn't sound like a good idea. I hope everything goes well and it is painless!!!

A cab is a great idea. Where is my head? I guess I was thinking that the 15 minutes would not be all that bad. It just takes a few brains to think this through.

No worries.

Try and relax Miz- I'm not a Dr, but you may find that this procedure is actually less painful that the pain you're dealing with now? who knows?

Yes, this is the idea. Less pain. I am moving towards a pain free situation. It has taken many years to get to the bottom of this. Finally, I am with a specialist. I know that the "Team" is doing everything that they can to get this under control.

I'm sorry to hear that you have to go through that tomorrow. Do you ever meditate? Maybe that could help calm you down a little bit before going? Am glad you're going to get a cab, and hope it goes easier than expected.

Great suggestion. I think I can meditate. I am nervous, not so much that I am coming out of my skin. I think I am more concerned, and feeling like "this" is a big deal. I guess this is why I have been prescribed Valium.

Thinking of you!

Hey Mizz-

Enjoy the cab ride! Yeah, get that back in shape. I had a friend that had back problems and they gave him exercises to strengthen his abdomen. Turned out that strengthening the abdomen relieved pressure on the back. Who knew?

Get better - feel good - watch that valium!

Well, after 2 months of physical therapy with targeting the abdominal muscles I have to say that It will not help my disc, and arthritis. My abdominal muscles are happy though. I have this big ball that i do a series of abdominal work on. I like the big ball. I wish that it was helping. The doctor is sending me back to PT for some other kind of work.
I am an active person. I do things that i am not supposed to do in regards to activities.....That is all I will say.
Anyways, I have to eat. Then I have to start this Valium thing. Not thrilled. Thank you all for talking to me. I appreciate the understanding of this post. I know that it is not about drinking. Forgive me!

well. that experience was something that I never want to go through again. Mt husband came home to find apple juice all over the house. including the keyboard. I have been asleep since 4 pm yesterday. I have enough bandaids on my back to help help an army. Im so out of it today. i remember being fed a little bit of food.
I woke up in the same clothes that i was wearing yesterday. I just need to figure out how to pull myself to together for work today.

Hey Mizz, sorry it was a painful experience! At least it was apple juice all over the house tho' right? Are you certain you should be going to work today? Back issues are pretty serious and it sounds like you are still recuperating from yesterday's trauma. Any way you can take today off? Maybe just chill out today, relax, read, whatever? Please let us know how you're feeling a bit later on and maybe consider calling out if you can?

(A virtual hug to you carefully avoiding your poor back!!)

Ha! That's a good one.

I'll echo Ptcapote: Sounds like a day off is in order. Maybe check with the Doc and see what they say.

I made it through today. The family has decided that i am not allowed to go it alone anymore. I need another few days sleep. I can hardly write this right now. Screw those meds....what a pile of crap. I cant wait to feel normal again.
Thanks for your support.
