You OK? Something I did when I detoxed at home, alone, was to predial 911 on my cell phone so all I had to do was hit one button for help. I thought I might need it.

I'm ok. Just feeling awful. Still have a couple of

Pills left. Trying to save until tomorrow. Just realised I'm pit of painkillers too. Went through 400mg codeine in a couple
Of days which isn't that much but I have no opiate tolerance ATM. Thought I had heaps left. Hope I can sleep.

Hubby keeping an eye on me.

MLC,
I'm thinking of you. I'm glad your hubby is close by and knows everything. Don't hesitate to call for medical help....keep those numbers handy and make sure your husband has them.

When I entered the recovery home in 1989 I was pretty well weened off the drugs and alcohol except for the Ativan that the ER doc would give me on my frequent visits because of hyperventilating/severe anxiety/panic that I would regularly experience.

I used to get the same ER Doc in the middle of the night most visits and he asked me if I had a Psychiatrist. I said "No" and he said "I highly advise you get one".
That scared the crap out of me as I had been in Psychiatric care, psych wards, group therapy and meds for years and I kept getting worse as time went on. I knew it didn't work ... and felt hopeless.

That was April-June of 1989 and I went to the recovery home in July. I had a gun in the car and it was all I could do to walk into the home rather than pull the trigger. I was 45 yrs old.

Luckily the recovery home I was going into is a spiritually based program and there was no meds allowed. I began to recover by surrendering on blind faith to the Program there and after 90 days I went right into AA as they advised and committed to it.

My story is not special, there are thousands and thousands of folks who went through that Home since the 1960's and many are in AA around here.

Some of my buddies back then told me if I went to that Home that I would be brainwashed. I said "I hope so.. my brain needs washing".

I have not had a drink or a med since 1989

I think the Home and AA did a fine job on me .....

All the best MLC

I know where you are at. I was there.

I know from past experience
valium is one drug that may cause death if not properly detoxed
a 10mg a day detox for 3 days may work
but
when it comes down to may work
we had better consult our doctor regarding a safe detox

I'm scared. I'm still having a small amount and I already feel like crap. Have run out of codeine too so I don't know how I will sleep tonight. I know there is a lot worse to come if
I continue to detox.
