GORGEOUS! When that is finished, it's going to be amazing...
How many sittings you think you have ahead of you?
Starting my sleeve soon. Your photo has got me even more pumped!

I think well-placed tattoos can look really good. The problem is I am indecisive and afraid that whatever I decide on I won't like or wont appreciate as much later on.
I suppose that getting a tat representing commitment to sobriety makes more sense than just about any other thing.
Flutter, that looks like it's going to look very nice! And I love Denver, it's a beautiful city. I live in Austin, but if I ever moved it would probably be to Denver. I had a choice between Austin and Denver and chose the less cold of the two cities.

I got my favourite William Butler Yates poem tattooed on my right arm. It's essentially about making choices, the past being the past and obsessing about is pointless or "a waste of breath". Yates also says that to live in the future as one has lived in the past (IF ones choices in the past have not been constructive) is both a forgone conclusion in terms of outcomes and pointless.
Both the knowledge of the past and the extrapolation to future events are extremely important guides through life. Choose wisely.
Took 7 hours.
An Irish Airman Foresees His Death
I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

I have a tattoo on the inside of my wrist that says "love". I got it a year ago to help inspire me to be sober (I'm only just beginning again now though) and to help with my depression. It represents that even when it doesn't feel like it, I have love and support around me. If my family/friends are not supporting me as much or in the way I would like, then I still have God's love. Since it represents more than one thing to me, I haven't regretted it even when I was drinking.

Flutter, That is amazing! A few years ago, I thought about a small tattoo ....my husband said if he could make it through four years in the Marines without one, his wife was certainly NOT going to have one - LOL! I too, will live vicariously through you
Wow, flutter, love yours - beautiful!
Three years ago, during my first longish period of sobriety, I had 'be present' tattooed in small script letters on my inner right wrist, so it's covered with my watch if I wear one. I had done a fair bit of Vipassana meditation training and practice, and this phrase sums up a practical and spiritual goal of mine, relating to both life and recovery.
Since getting the tattoo I've (very unfortunately!) spent more time drinking that sober, and sometimes it's felt like my former good intentions were mocking me, but in other dark times it's been a symbol of hope and a useful reminder of the only thing truly required in any given: just 'be present'.
As for what other people think about a tattoo that inspires you, I wouldn't worry about it. In my experience I've been glad that my tattoo is in a place I can easily hide or show, according to how I feel at the time.
It's really a personal decision - good luck!
