It has taken me so long to be able to accept that I deserve to be happy. Sobriety has helped me see what a lifelong issue this has been for me. From being taught from a young child that I was not supposed to be happy, to staying for many years in an unhappy marriage, to staying in unhappy jobs and living in unhappy places, this belief that I don't deserve a happy life has underpinned so much.
I really want to get underneath this blanket of undeservedness and gather the strength to lift it away from me.
Sobriety was the first step as alcoholism was just another layer I had heaped upon my undeservedness.
I deserve to be happy because:
Every human does.
Because there is nothing wrong with me.
Because I am one of God's children, too.
Because every other person in the WORLD does not have to be happy, before I get to be.
Because there is an infinite supply and more than enough to go around.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Sigh. I guess I need this kind of thread to force myself to do some affirmations. I also struggle with thinking I deserve to be happy/healthy...so...
I deserve to be happy because other people (like those at the AA meeting I attended this morning) think I deserve it. and because my husband thinks I deserve to be happy.
It's a start. I'll get there.

I think a person should find something positive about themselves everyday. And do things that make you feel good.
I deserve to be happy because I believe that you get what you give..........
I also belive if you ask you will recieve......

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
