Name 1 thing you did today.. that you would NOT have done back when you drank...

Name one thing you did today that you would have NOT done back when you were drinking. I will start.

Today, I reorganized a closet. Before, when I drank, I couldn't see the bottom of my closet. I was too depressed When drinking to do laundry... so I would buy new pairs of socks and underwear when I ran out. Back when I drank, my dryer broke and I didn't get it fixed for nine months. But the first month I was sober, I got it fixed!

today I made a LIST, grocery shopped, have dinner (and my work lunches) planned for the week. I washed clothes, put them away! changed the linens, washed my hair, gave myself a facial, drank coffee, scrubbed the cat box and have plants and dirt to be repotted. I vacuumed and wiped up the porch floor. (all before 1PM)

Ran five miles. Before I would have only ran three because I would be dehydrated from drinking wine the night before.

I helped my kids throw a "Birthday Party" for their stuffed animals, which included ballons, snacks, games....the works! I also ran to Wal-mart early on a Sunday and it wasn't to buy beer!!

Gave the dogs a good long walk. Before I'd be too drunk or sick to do it. Now it's a regular thing.

Took my daughter to the park for about 2 hours. Did 3 loads of laundry. Cleaned the kitchen.

Went to the gym and had a great workout at 10AM. Would have been opening my eyes and hating myself and just wanting more alcohol to feel better

I visited with my brother who gets lonely and depressed sometimes. I would never do this when I'm drinking or on drugs. I thank God for the gifts of recovery.

I got some gossip/news about my ex that I got very angry over. Instead of drinking/drugging I went for a walk, called my sponsor, actually LISTENED to what he was saying and bothered to think about how it applied to my situation. Then walked some more and decided to spend my afternoon constructively moving forward with MY life plans, rather than wallowing in anger over something my ex did. Then I came home and did that constructive thing.

I went to two meetings , had a nice walk , saved $20 , feel at ease , cried true tears , enjoyed some cake and felt okay about myself and who I am.

Went to a meeting, washed and waxed car, grocery shopped for the work week, before noon. Got laundry done, packed clothes for work, and ready for a week, ugh.
