An old timer at a meeting said:
"It's easy, just don't drink and keep comming to meetings."
and this is one of my favorite reminders:
"Just because the monkey is off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town."

There may be a thousand little choices in a day. All of them count. * You may think that in life, a lot of things happen to you along the way. The truth is, in life, you happen to a lot of things along the way. * Choosing to live your life by your own choice is the greatest freedom you will ever have. ~Shad Helmstetter
AA is a little puppy dog in the window. Its a spiritual front. It is looking for two types of people. Those with the balls to stay and those with the balls to ask....is this it?

1. I can not make a brand new start, but I can make a brand new end.
2. Depression is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of being strong for too long.
3. If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.
4. So often we live our lives in chains without knowing we hold the key.
5. When I enjoyed it, I couldn't control it. When I controlled it, I didn't enjoy it.
6. Do or Do not, there is no try. Yoda
Some of my faves.... I love quotes.

Random stuff I have heard people say on here...
'Nothing changes if nothing changes'
'You don't have to drink'
'The ISM in Alcoholism stands for Incredibly Short Memory'
'Life is 10% what happens and 90% how you respond to it'
'Humility isn't thinking less of yourself. It's thinking of yourself less'
'All expectations are seeds for resentment'
'There's a positive side to being an alcoholic...you don't have to drink anymore'

A poem... Raymond Carver the American author died of cancer. After he died this poem was found in his things. He was a recovered alcoholic and the words below make me happy, despite him dying too young.
Gravy
No other word will do. For that's what it was.Gravy.
Gravy, these past ten years.
Alive, sober, working, loving, and
being loved by a good woman. Eleven years
ago he was told he had six months to live
at the rate he was going. And he was going
nowhere but down. So he changed his ways
somehow. He quit drinking! And the rest?
After that it was all gravy, every minute
of it, up to and including when he was told about,
well, some things that were breaking down and
building up inside his head. "Don't weep for me,"
he said to his friends. "I'm a lucky man.
I've had ten years longer than I or anyone
expected. Pure Gravy. And don't forget it."
