Are there any seniors, or close, like myself on SR?

Might as well jump in.....I've been avoiding it....here I go....ummm....well....... I'm 56.....been sober 16 months. (Whew...now that wasn't so bad.)
But I am of the opinion that 50 is the new 30, so I will continue to act and live AS IF

I agree with Fred B on all counts.
I got sober when I was 31, and I am 55 now.
I don't miss the old (garbage) lifestyle a bit - someone else can have it.
I attribute my sobriety to God and AA in that order.
If drinking was any good to me, I would still be doing it.

I'm 63 as well and it's good to hear from you. I am working toward 40 days being clean of oxy. I have felt very foolish lately for being an old man who's still screwed up on drugs. It was "OK" when I was smoking pot right after college but drugs now? What an idiot. I had been sober for many years but jumped right back into it when given a prescription for pain pills. It was so easy and I was gone for 3 years. It is so good to be back to myself.

I am 40 but lived enough cat lives to be lucky to be here still.
But my maturity level is only about 16. I stopped growing in mind along time ago, but am growing now. And its a wonderful world , on my own borrowed time I love it.
Good love, Inda

I am not sure whether to be flattered or not. LOL
My lifestyle is quite unorthodox for a person of my age. it is said that 60 is the new 40.
In my early 20s I had a vision of what I wanted to be like when I was older. I am now becoming that person.

Hi, I'm 55 and that would make me getting close to being a seasoned citizen.
You posted this in another thread.
Detaching from the AV makes being recovered from alcoholism or addiction quick work.
Its good to see yet another person using the AVRT as a way to live the good life.

Hi OldSoul,
Good to hear from you.
I'm 54 and I got sober at 24. Still going strong.
Congratulations on your new sobriety! Stay with it, and living sans alcohol really will get better, easier, as you work thru the new experiences, challenges, and successes! Best to you.

Hi Oldsoul. Being a Baby Boomer born in 1952, I guess I am just behind you 49rs. I am not old, just that dang person who replaced me in the mirrors. Now he's old, me . . . not so much.
I will have two years of sobriety this coming September and I think that puts me at 21 months now. Don't get me to lying. I do better at counting years now instead of days, weeks, or months. I feel privileged as there are still lots of people dying to quit.
