For me, I want everything fixed NOW. Like yesterday. It can't be. I have been praying, been to a meeting and talking to my sponsor.

She tells me to put one foot in front of the other and try to do the next right thing.

It is so hard though.

Maybe you need to go to the hospital. Like they are saying, DON'T RISK IT.

I've already been to that dark place.

It can change, ovrock. You can stay stopped! Help is available, even where you live.

Call this AA number and see if someone can take you or talk with you: (340) 776-5283

Please see a doctor.

Love,

there's an AA meeting there tomorrow. the phone number is an answering service, not sure if it's a live person or not, but try to call and just talk to a voice.

does your counselor know you are drinking? are you honest with them? it's a beginning.

Half Measures Group –

Location: Pasea, next to Davis Funeral Home

Sunday Open Literature - call 284-544-3950 or 9:00 AM
Monday Open Steps 284-494-6216 5:30 PM
Wednesday Open Discussion 5:30 PM
Friday Open Big Book 5:30 PM

Virgin Gorda – call 284-540-3133 for meeting information.

try calling. i don't know what time it is there, but try. you aren't alone anymore.

Go to an AA meeting...Find some people with years of sobriety and do what they did....Took me out of that hopeless...dark place...I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for you.

Start with The Forward and read the first 164 pages...Then read em again...See if you see yourself in there anywhere...And you don't have to download it...I like this version because it has a nice search feature.

Check out this site too ovrock....

Your First AA Meeting<

Before you know it you'll be one of the chosen few sober people on Tortola...I know there aren't many.

Lots of good advice here, ovrock. I've been where you are and I know those feelings well. The alcohol only makes them worse. All you can do is keep trying. The AA rooms are full of people who have done the same thing you have. There are people in my group who have years of going in and out of the rooms before finally getting sober for good. They are an inspiration to me because that was me too ... in and out, in and back out, in and back out again ... I can tell you that this time, it's finally sticking. And it's an awesome feeling.

You can get there, I know you can. The only thing that will keep you from getting there is giving into the despair. Get yourself to a meeting, grab onto the hope that those folks offer, and get busy. You will feel so much better about yourself. You CAN conquer this thing. Please don't give up.

I can totally relate OVRock, here is one of my posts/poems on this exact subject from 2009... Life can be so much better if you put everything you have in you into getting sober & your recovery program. Cheers ~NB

I can totally relate to the "Broken Soul" thing right now, actually I wrote a poem about it recently (below).

Take care & all of the best.

NB

Broken Soul

feeling broken today
but not sure why
my memories haunt me
no matter how hard I try

lost & bewildered
sits this broken soul
trying to figure out
how to fill up this hole

I have let alcohol
ruin my life
along with its friends
torture & strife

I need a new plan
to steer things right
to embrace & hold onto
with all of my might

so just for today
is how I must think
to save me from
that very first drink

for today I am broken
yes this is true
but I am still hopeful
of a beginning anew
