5 months sober today

my sobriety date is 10/12/11. this is gonna be a good week, my 27th birthday is on Friday too!! i'm gonna take some time to reflect on things since this is the longest I've ever been sober but I'm feelin pretty good. I'm taking myself out to lunch today to celebrate

@jeans thanks, things are definitely way better now that I'm sober than when I was getting wasted all the time. i'm in good physical shape and getting ready for a marathon next month. I generally feel more self-confident and less anxious around people. I'm so glad that I don't have any of the regret, shame, embarassment, or dread that I felt when I was drinking heavily. I feel sooo much better waking up in the morning without a hangover. My life isn't perfect but I'm learning to feel more comfortable with myself and working on making changes so I can continue to grow as a person.

remember every hour every day you remain sober is a miracle and to try to put the same effort into staying sober that we have done to get our fix or drinks

Congratulations and happy birthday wookie 85.
I'm 10 days away from the big 6 (months) and I need to think of something to do as well.

(I really wish I had gotten clean by 27, could have saved me a whole lot of grief (I'm 40 now), but I wasn't having any of that I just kept on slaving to the drug.... I'm sure there are others your age getting and staying sober.)
