Change4good, I'm new to this as well. I am learning rather quickly that there is NOTHING like being sober, and being responsible and present for my kids. And I know how the number of drinks just keeps growing and growing and we thought we were hiding it, but children deserve so much more. And so do you! The beginning is hard, making "normal" days and nights not involve alcohol, but little by little it becomes more natural and you realize how alcohol does nothing good for you.
Keep coming on here and take it day by day- Congrats on your new beginning!

I know I'm supposed to be doing this for myself, and I am, but my kids are a "sobriety trigger" for me. Being ready for an emergency is important. Walking by the fridge and seeing the photos from years past and realizing how fast time flies and how I don't want to fog out any memories with stupid alcohol. Also, thinking about myself and the effects of being raised in a time and place where booze was everywhere...normal...required even. I want to explain addiction without a beer in my hand.
Congratulations. Good luck.

great book for moms
Thanks everyone, for your words and experiences.
I read a great book last night, called "Mommy Doesn't Drink Here Anymore." I would highly recommend it to parents with young kids. Hell, it would be great for anyone.
