Hi. I'm new to this forum and was referred by a dear friend of mine. About 3-4 years ago, i incurred a bad injury and needed surgery. Once out of surgery, i was given percocet/vicodin to deal w my pain. I enjoyed the high. Unfortunately, i still enjoy the high. I remained off the drugs for about a year and started back up about 2-3 years ago. I dont even know if I belong here as i have read some of the stories and chats and it's amazing to see how/what ppl are doing in here. It's really commendable. Anyway, at this point I am taking on average about 4-5 pills a day and spending about 1K on pills per month. I just decided yesterday, after a talk w a friend, that i need to try and stop. I dont know how much information I should divulge but i feel as though i need to cut down on my intake of these pills. Yesterday, I took 1 at around 11AM and went until about 5PM when i had to attend a wake. At that point, i already felt anxiety of not having a pill for 6 hours. Sure enough, i took another one and then 2 more in the evening (1 to help me sleep). I feel as though i can't sleep without it and that i am dependent on them to be able to fall asleep. So far today i havent taken one but my plan is to try and 'cut down' on my intake slowly and eventually 'ween' myself off them as opposed to quit cold turkey. I'm not sure i am capable or ready to do so just yet. Today, I am going to try and take 3 and eventually cut down from there. 3 seems like such a small amount as is right now for me. Is this a good idea? I'm really not sure what to do. Would love feedback. Thanks.

I think it would be a good idea to talk to your dr about your addiction and get his advice. We do understand how hard this is.
