Although my life and situation are completely different to yours (also live about 3,500+ miles away!) I can relate to your drinking. I too was a blackout binge-drinker and I was a liability when drinking. Even when drinking alone I was a liability (I lost my license for 2 years for crashing my car drink driving and I was drinking alone.)
I gave it up nearly 11 months ago now. Drugs and cigarettes also went on the same day too. It can be done if you want it badly enough and you're willing to do what is necessary and put the work and sacrifices in.
