Can't afford help. Anything?

Please we have no insurance. No money. But my husband is an abusive alcoholic. Physically and mentally. I don't want to leave him, but I can't fix him. Any ideas where I can get him some rehab help?

Posts: 219 can't help him. Unless he wants help there is really nothing you can do. I wouldn't stay with someone that is physically or mentally abusive. You need to look out for yourself.

Sorry, but you cannot get him rehab help. He has to do it on his own. You should get yourself to a safe place if your husband is abusive. No one should have to put up with that.

Suki is right - you can't make your husband seek help if he doesn't want to.
You can take care of yourself tho - please think about calling this number or checking out the website
Domestic Violence

For the US:
National Domestic Violence Hotline:
1-800-787-3224 (TTY For The Deaf)

By state:

AA is free or you can donate when the 7th Tradition is collected, but he's got to want to help himself, it's difficult if not impossible to force an alcoholic into recovery.

For yourself, Al-Anon and Codependents Anonymous are free too, please check out these sites for meetings in your area....

Please, I urge you to take action and protect yourself.

As Dee posted, there are shelters for domestic violence available to help you.

Welcome to the SR family, slinkadink!

I'm glad you found us. You will find support and information for yourself here and especially in our section for family and friends of alcoholics:
Friends and Family of Alcoholics - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
You can post your questions and concerns anytime.

I'm sorry that your husband is abusing alcohol and you. I'm sorry you are not getting the respect you deserve from your partner.

Please continue to reach out for help, but for yourself. Reach out in your community to your local Domestic Violence Shelter and let them show you your options.

You are not alone, let others help you take care of yourself. (((hugs)))
