Newfound (or many times repeatedly refound in my case) sobriety is first very painful, then a day-by-day a blessing...

hi everyone. i cant seem to post a new thread so i hope people can read it on this thread. i am really glad i found this site. to start with i am in my early 20's and have a problem with binge drinking. the more posts i read on this site the more i realise my problem will keep getting worse and destroy my life and relationship. i am after any advice on how to overcome this problem with maybe reading some books or other methods people have used to cut it out of their lifestyle. i have been to an aa meeting a few months ago and the advice i got from there was good but i felt uncomfortable and would prefer to tackle this in my own house. any advice would be great. thankyou
I am on day 6. Last night I posted a question similar to yours and got some great advice. One poster suggested that I read the Under the Influence sticky at the top of the alcohol page. It really was very useful. I am sort of in your shoes, I'm in my 20's, my life is doing pretty ok, but my binges are getting out of control and scaring me. That sticky explained what it means to binge, to black out, etc. I am ordering the book from Amazon today. Check it out. And try again to post your own thread. Its amazing how many people will jump on just to say they are thinking of you. It meant more to me than I thought it would.
