It really depends from person to person and depends on a lot of different factors, but if you look at the stickies under the Alcoholism forum there's one with what different people experienced through detoxing and how long it lasted for them. It might give you a rough idea of things.

My work office is actually closing and I am changing jobs- so maybe i can find a 10 day gap in there to kick this things ass. I love this forum by the way. you guys are awesome and I respect your ability to control this hard situation- you inspire me.....
later- Dub. PS going to see a movie with my wife slumdog millionaire, so she is a big support.....we will see.

Talk to your doc... totally depends on each person. I detoxed once w/ a doc's help, was put on Tranxene to prevent seizures.. but drank again a few weeks later, detoxed by myself, and was fine within 2 or 3 days. That's just me.. detoxing can be very very very dangerous, make a plan w/ a medical pro.. go from there!
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace

The wise thing to do is have an honest talk with your doctor.
De toxing is a medical issue.
Here is the link from our Alcoholism Forum that Wes mentioned

The Salvation Army has free de tox facilties in many areas.
Usually 3 or 4 days is the time required.
Yes! you too can quit and stay quit..
Blessings to you and your family
