Exclamation Feeling Helpless

Many of you already know that my son Cam has been having some health problems. The pain in his legs is continuing to worsen, so his doctor is asking that he remain inactive until more is figured out. It may be a rheumatic fever type of illness in which the pain should be getting better over time, lasting up to 6 weeks. The thing is, his pain is getting worse, I feel so sad for him. He is only 15. Today he is going for a chest x-ray, due to some chest pain and coughing. The doctor thinks all of these symptoms are tied together

I have been wanting to drink, just to take the edge off. My children mean everything to me and I just feel somewhat paralized right now fearing the worst. I want to be able to fix this and I feel so helpless.

Sorry to dump all of this on you all, thats all I seem to do anymore.

Please keep us in your prayers.

aww, sweetie, you have been through a lot, here lately.

Just remember....drinking is only going to hurt your son even more (mentally), and it certainly isn't going to help you. We forget how to stop using/drinking when we're trying to numb our feelings and everything is made worse.

I can only imagine how hard it is to see him suffering, but he needs his mom now, more than ever, and he needs you to be sober.

You've come too far, and you will get through this.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

OH hon!!! I'm so sorry this is happening to your son! You'll both be in my thoughts today!

Just a bit of a mommy-nag now....but you know that you won't be able to be "there" for him if you drink, right? OK...I'm done now....

You know what? It's good to share with us here. Do whatever you need to do in order not to pick up that drink. And what good would it do? Your sick son will still be sick when you are done drinking.

Can you be kind to yourself? Take some time to take a nice bath or to do something that you enjoy that will bring you peace?

Keep sharing with us, we can help you carry the load.

xoxoxo

Oh Suzette,

I am so sorry that things are not improving yet.

I don't blame you for feeling bad. There is nothing worse than seeing our kids suffer and worrying about them.

I hope things are figured out quickly and he recovers well.

Prayers and hugs, Suzette. It's so hard to watch our kids in pain, isn't it? You are holding up so well, I'm sure at 15 your son understands (to some degree) that you are suffering also, and I imagine he is quite proud of you for not picking up. I am sure it is comforting him no end to have you at his side and sober. You are doing great, hun. Yall will be in our prayers.

Love Jomey

So sorry to hear about your son! It's so important to keep the focus on him and if you do decide to drink- the focus will be on you.

I'm just repeating what everyone else has said Suzette.

At times like these our children need us to be sober more than ever. I've had to take my son in for stitches, I know it comforted him to have me there 100%. I hope you remain strong and continue to be an inspiration to your children.

Continued prayers going out for Cam and your family. He's got an awesome Mom to support him while he heals and recovers quickly.

We are leaving now to go for his chest x-ray. I will check in when I get back. The support you all give is awesome.

Love Suzette

Hang in there and ditto to what every one else has said. Just keep up your strength so you can be there for him. That's what he needs most right now is his mom. You will be in my prayers today.

Your family is in my prayers. I know how hard it can be when we worry about our children.

This past March, my 6 year old son, Joseph, broke his leg playing hockey. I was there for him right from the second we carried him off the ice. Through all of the pain, fear, frustration, and crying. For six weeks, helping him to the bathroom, carrying him to the truck (icy & wet time of year) & into school. Joe needed me to be strong for him and he had full trust in me. We had our little triumphs, proud moments, laughs. I also had my own private times of crying. We made it through this experience the best we could. It was our love that kept us strong.

I can only reiterate the hope for his full recovery and that you don't let this drag you back down to that hell hole drinking will bring you to. You need to be sober to care for him. You need to be sober to care for YOU!!

We're home now, just waiting for the doctor to call.

Cam's up in his bed watching movies and eating taco bell - he just might be thinking "hey this isn't so bad". LOL

I think I will stay close to SR today - I really need you all.
