Good News!

Cam's renal ultrasound looked fine according to the doctor who did the imaging. Now we just need to wait for the radiologist to send a report to Cam's doctor.
His doctor recommended that we see a rheumatoligist after the tests have all come back.

Thank you so much for the update. I was wondering how you and your family are doing.

It sounds like you have a great pediatrician for you son. When you first mentioned the various consults he recommended for him I was really impressed with how on top of it he was. (Especially getting the ophthamology consult right away. There are certain forms of juvenile kidney disease that manifest as lesions in the eye. Very thorough!)

It sounds like you two are in great hands. Ultrasound is a great modality for looking the kidney so it is good to hear that the initial impression is so positive. I hope the radiologist's report is positive as well.

I think the hardest part about medicine is the waiting and the not knowing. As hard as it is on the patient and their loved ones, it is hard on the doctor. They want good news too and begin treatment.

I am praying for your family that answers will be found and healing will come to you soon.

All the test results have finally come back and:

Cams's ASO antibody is high which means he had strep throat over the last several weeks that went undetected. Which seem crazy because he usually gets very sick with strep.

So his doctor said that it looks like rheumatic fever, which means he has arthritis in his legs. I feel so bad because with the tests not coming back right away and the fact that Cam is earned the reputation of being quite dramatic. I sent him to school on the day they were running the mile for fitness testing. He made it with 9 seconds to spare, but afterwords could hardly move.

He will go to the rheumatologist early next week and we will learn a lot more then. I pray that he will overcome this completely. I feel very concerned about it however because when I was in my early 30's I had mono, was very sick, and that is what caused my autoimmune illnesses that have been with me since then.

Please keep praying for Cam.

(((TM)))

I'm glad you got some answers. I understand your concerns, but medicine has advanced a lot, and I still think you caught this early, so I'm sure he will do fine.

Hugs and prayers!
