hi.
welcome.
i used to drink to try to control my anxiety (amongst other things. eg: shyness; anger; sadness; ect etc ad infinitum). i also got addicted to benzos trying to control my anxiety. in the end i figured out that anxiety's probably not going to kill me - alcohol and drugs would have. so that was one of the reaons why i quit.
i'm always anxious. but sometimes i'm in panic mode 24/7. when i'm like that i really consider drinking.
i was like that a few weeks ago. and after going 3 times in the space of a week to the emergency room i realized that i probably wasn't having a heart attack and even if i was so what? it's more honourable to die of a heart attack rather then an OD or a stupid drunk car crash!
it's not nice but we can live with the anxiety and perhaps even somewhat control it if we're able to believe that it really can't harm us.
