Hi!
I am just wondering if we can all share our age? just curious to see....
How old are you now?
How old were you when you quit?
How old were you when you realized drinking was a problem for you?
Thanks

I am 29 years old.
I quit very recently...fresh blood here
I realized drinking was a problem for me about 9 years ago. (WOWZA) Thats when I knew I drank too much and thats when it began to cause friction in my life.
I started tho when I was about 13 years old....craved it like crazy, did it every chance I could. For the past 9 years I have drank pretty well everyday!! (except for when I was pregnant with DD) crazy stuff......

I'm pretty fresh blood, too...:-)
I'm not an alcoholic...but I've done my share of drinking.
44 now
10 smoking pot & drinking beer
The next 18 yrs were experimenting and finding my fav DOC - speed.
The next 15+ yrs was relatively mild...foo foo drinks, rx pills every now and again, ate the hell outta Stackers, other gas station energy pills and caffeine.
Relapsed a couple weeks ago on Lortabs...still hung up there but tryin'.

56 years young
quit 3 years 1 month and 2 weeks ago
Originally quit when I was 25 (1976) was a common garden addict. Stayed clean for 20 years, relapsed on Alcohol for 11 years and when hopeless enough asked for help and am a member of NA.
Was a hopeless dope fiend, now a dopeless hope fiend

39 now
39 when I quit (almost 70 days ago )
17 when I knew it was a problem. I wrote a poem about the "wicked wine" that "stole my soul" at that age. I still have it. Painful, really.
I feel like a kid again. I am learning how to live. Some of the things that gave me comfort as a child...writing, playing guitar...have given me comfort yet again. I am finding the old me beneath the layers of **** I piled upon myself. I'm not so bad after all. I have hope again.

How old are you now?
20.
How old were you when you quit?
20. (Six months ago, clean of alcohol and everything else I was filling my head with.)
How old were you when you realized drinking was a problem for you?
I probably realized it was going to be a problem when I started drinking every day about 12 years ago. (Yeah, I know.)

I am 36 now. Relapsed several times. First got sober when I was 27 and maintained it for 2.5 years. At 27, I didn't want to admit I had a problem but I had started transitioning from reckless social drinking (I played in bands and was always socially illiterate, so it was the "norm" to be stoned and drunk). All of a sudden, my friends were getting on w/ their lives while I was still pleading w/ some of them to meet me at bars, even tho' I was rarely comfortable there. Eventually, I started drinking at home, alone.
I relapsed due to depression/ anxiety/ life circumstances. Well, no excuses. I simply relapsed. Got sober again for another few years. I was doing well until last November when I finally hit another "emotional" wall. Looking to move through the rest of my thirties in a sober state!

51 1/2 now
50 when I quit-bday is sobriety date
31 the first time, was dry for a very long time, most of it without a program, was definitely not a happy camper.
Realized I had a problem in my late twenties, 'quit' when I was 29, but ex-wife #1 didn't have a problem if I smoked dope or whatever, took the wreckage of marriage #1 to get me in AA.

How old were you when you realized drinking was a problem for you? I suspected I might have a problem from the summer when I was 21. I don't think I really absolutely knew for sure I had a problem until I was 22. I was 24 before I could admit that I was completely powerless over it and that no attempt at "moderation" would ever work for me.
